As a general purpose round, which does better? 75gr Gold Dor or the 62gr TBBC?

62gr TBBC > all but perhaps M855A1.

Gold Dots are pretty accurate and have good all around characteristics including the ability to expand down to I think 1800 fps. I would chose those.

If accuracy and soft target terminal performance are your primary concerns, then I can see giving fusions / gold dots the edge.

TBBC are not as accurate, but are more than accurate enough for engaging targets out to 300+ yards, much better at barrier penetration (esp the 5.56 velocity loads like I have), and expand very quickly and reliably themselves as it is (lots of gel test videos out there) with even deeper penetration.

I prefer gold dots and fusion over the tougher bonded bullets like TBBC for several reasons.

The 75gr gold dot in particular:

1) Does more soft tissue damage
2) Expands to a larger diameter
3) Has a lower expansion threshold
4) Is still an excellent barrier blind bullet
5) Has a much higher ballistic coefficient
6) Is typically a much more accurate bullet
7) Is cheaper

If auto glass performance is more important to you than literally anything else, then you should go with with the TBBC/LE223T3. Otherwise I'd go with the 75gr gold dot or the 55/62gr gold dots and call it a day.

I’ve heard good things about TBBC but I’ve used GD in 75 and 55 for years, and it’s always been consistent terminally and shoots precisely across every rifle I’ve tried it in. My “precision” rifles get TMK, but even my higher end ARs shoot GD into 1.5 MOA or less pretty consistently. They’re great ammo.
