My buddy and I are thinking about getting a couple. The manufacturer claims a 260gr Nosler Accubond can go up to 2525fps.

I haven't toyed with this one but want to.  What's holding me back is a clear use case to justify the cost per shot with the Sierra MK 350s.  In addition to needing a rifle, I also lack a can for this caliber.

That’s the problem with the big subs the bullet cost gets ridiculous. I keep hoping that with the subsonic market like it is we will continue to see more choices in bullets and calibers. I’m hoping the 8.6 Creedmoor/Blackout is well received because then maybe we’ll get 35 375 458 etc. I honestly think I would have already bought something in 50/510 whisper if it was more of an over the counter thing.

There is already a perfectly good round in .458 for subsonic use and you don't have to go to an AR-10/LR platform.  The .458 SOCOM is an excellent sub sonic platforms and you don't have to put up with the extra weight and size of the LR platform.  Subsonic is subsonic, and the .458 SOCOM is easy to get subsonic performance in the AR length magazine.  Bullets up to 500 gr. are common and if you look around you can get up to 600 gr. and getting them to 1050 fps and still have a fully functioning rifle is not difficult at all.  And if you don't reload, SBR and Black Butterfly make factory available ammunition.  When you are shooting bullets at subsonic velocity, there is only one way to deliver more hurt to the target, and that is increased bullet weight, and the .458 S is an excellent delivery platform.  If you are wanting something with a higher B.C. the .338 Spectre can handle 300 gr. bullets with a high B.C. to 1050 fps, again in the AR platform.

I wish the 338 Spectre would have been the chosen on instead of 300 Blackout. I under set and why it didn’t I just wish it wasn’t the case.

If you really want a 375 in 2500fps range why not go with the 375socom.  Here is the thread comparing velocities with barrel length.  http://458socomforums.com/index.php?topic=2893.0

It is with a 200gn bullet but still plenty fast.

There is nothing wrong with the raptor, I just prefer cheap off the shelf options, with some industry support.

I would go with the .338Fed or .358Win first.

i do not know how the Raptor feeds with AR-308 magazines. I do know that .338Fed works with FAL magazines but the .358Win sometimes doesn't.

Can modified 308 reloading dies be used for the 375 Raptor?
By changing out the seating stem, or by machining it?
Thanks

I just got my 375 Raptor barrel from X-Caliber. It's a 10.5" barrel, not sure why I didn't go 12.5". The other barrel is a 22 Creedmoor.

I have one and I like it.  I don't shoot it as much as other calibers, but I do really enjoy shooting it.  I'm going to start loading some subs for it this winter.  I'm a caliber junkie and own most of the popular "wildcats".

My barrel is from OutdoorShooterSupply.  It will shoot just a touch over MOA at 100yds and about 1.5 at 200.  Plenty good enough to knock down deer and hogs around here.

Honestly, its not that bad.  But I'm comparing it to 500 Automax as well as 300WSM.

I'll put it this way.  I can generally keep my eye in the scope.

Good to know, thanks. How heavy is your rifle? I’m thinking about doing an ultralight for this build, perhaps around 6.5 lbs or so for a bare rifle.

Mines on the heavier side.  Probably in that 10-11Lbs range.  Most of my AR10s are that way.

This thread inspired me to work on my 375 raptor project. I made the brass from Hornady 358 win. Put a 260 gr Accubond seated at 2.775” with a slight crimp. I have 350 gr sierras coming. 1:8 twist on the barrel.

So ballistics wise is this going to be pretty close to 358?

Yeah,  It is supposed to hit a little harder and gives you a better selection of projectiles.

Loaded some 350 gr supers tonight. I need to find some Tin Star to load subs.

griffin, do you have other common bullet sizes to compare the 350 to?  I'd be grateful for a picture that showed the 350 and perhaps a 150 grain .30 cal and/or 55 grain .22 cal, for example.

You, sir, rock!   Thank you so much for the awesome picture.  Yep, that 350 is a monster.

I built one using an X-Caliber 18" barrel.  A 270gr. Speer SPBT over 43.0gr. of Reloader 10X managed 2,100 FPS (45F, Lab Radar). And that's a stout load that resulted in expanded primer pockets. I backed down to 41.0gr. Accuracy wise, it easily prints 5 shot groups within 1.5" at 100 yards.
