The side mounted scope was there due to the top toggle eject of the C96 mauser

i considered the side mount but it really should be on the left side for a right handed shooter

Where do you get the grips and the muzzle devices.

I just ordered a BCA .22 LR pistol upper, may make one of these.

This looks great!

If you don't mind my asking stupid questions because this is totally new to me, Could you list the parts to build one like yours?
Will any upper work? Where do you get the short barrel or does it come with the 22 BCG as a kit? I just got Aero Precision lower and know how to build out that part. Thanks!

Just got the notice from CMMG today.  The 22 bolt and barrel kit have shipped... only THREE DAYS from when they were ordered!

So far I have an upper.
The lower arrives on the 13th.
The bolt and barrel kit arrives in 6 days.

I need to get a handguard with barrel bolt so I've been shopping around.
And I still need a rear plug. Most have a hole for a quick release sling swivel so I can hang it in on a lanyard.

Mine won't be like the real Hans Solo blaster as the handle, sights and muzzle device will all be AR spare parts.

Can't wait to shoot it!

edit:

Just got the buffer plate, buffer plug with sling swivel, and a neato 4 inch handguard, so everything is good to go.

That video up above here with the picture of the pickle shows what tracer fire looks like. It's really neato.

One step closer! RTB has the four and a half inch barrels in stock and on sale! Snagged one.

BBL arrived. It has the contour that someone else uses. The image on the page is a stock image. FYI

You got me curious. How is the barrel profile different from the picture?
Is it more like the CMMG?

My blaster. I have no plans for a scope.

Has glock sights on High Tower Armory  adapters.

Upper, lower, and grip are 3d printed. RTB bolt and barrel.

I plan on painting the grip to look like wood.

VERY nice!

Couple of suggestions - replace the captive pins w/ removable ones, either KNS buttons or GWACS/KE Arms integral ball detent pins - this would allow you on your next print to fill in the detent pin holes, adding a modicum of strength.

You can also fill in the LRBHO channel, and the buffer retaining pin channel, which might be the most important strengthening you can do in a 3-D printed lower other than adding steel reinforcements as some models do.

Thanks for the suggestions! It's a work in progress. I need to do something else with the pins but I whipped this up in my shop. I also want to print another lower without the 1913 rail on the back, since this will be used without a brace. It shoots nearly 100% as it it though and it's a fun range toy.

The more meat you put on it, the better.  Don't delete the rail, fill it in.

I've got one in progress using a 3.9" printed barrel (with chambered barrel liner), printed nut, and printed blaster flash hider that uses the BoreBuddy Rimfire Quick Disconnect thread pattern.  I have around 100 rounds through it, so far so good!

Are you getting any flex in the barrel with how short it is?

The main reason I ask is to compare that to using a standard steel barrel in a polymer upper receiver.  steel barrel in a polymer receiver will definitely flex, especially once you get to 16" barrel length.

The barrel is very stiff -- the liner is 0.375" in diameter, and the plastic is Carbon Fiber PLA.  I have not shot any groups with it yet, mostly just blasting for function testing.

I bought a Chiappa 22lr upper years ago and the barrel flex was horrendous with the polymer upper receiver. Once I swapped the polymer receiver for an aluminum receiver and a free float handguard, the upper is quite accurate now.

I can see the combo of carbo fiber PLA and a 3/8" liner working for such a short barrel.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what holds the metal together?

I have another one that I made with a 5.5" barrel, and it also seems very stiff for what it is. Once I get some optics on it, I'll shoot some 25 and 50 yard groups and see what it'll do. I had no trouble keeping it on a 2' steel silhouette at 50 yards offhand with no sights, haha.

5.5" with the muzzle device removed:

Dirty from around 75 rounds run last range trip, but you can see the liner installed in the printed barrel:

The Henry Survival (AR-7 pattern) rifle barrel has used a 16 in. steel .22LR liner inside of a polymer shell for many years.

It is kinda interesting that only one DL44 survived the first movie

the other 2 were returned to the M96 configuration at the prop house

the AR22 DL44 is much more massive
