This isn't a competition.
Here are the rules.
50 shots
50 yards
Standing and unsupported
Use the ubiquitous Birchwood Casey Shoot-N-C 6 inch stick on target.
We are counting The number of hits on the target. Not ring scores.
The purpose of this test is to create a a continuum, a yardstick for which we can compare our basic marksmanship skills. You can use a scope, red dot or iron sights.

This is my submission

Title said grapefruit challenge and I see no grapefruit in that picture.

If we are going to use real grapefruits and if I can shoot at it with my 460Rowland - Only going to have to hit it once for the target to be 'disappeared'...

Wasn't Molon's original Grapefruit Challenge 10 rounds? 50 gets a little crowded no?

How long can I take?

Also, that's a 12 moa target. You're going to get a lot of 50/50s.  Count ring scores. How else are going to measure?

I say we make this harder, same challenge but with a 2min time limit. 50rds with unlimited time is stupid easy.

50/50 offhand on a 12 MOA target is possible but I don’t think it will be “a lot”...

I like this a lot. I say put a time restriction on it like 2 minutes. I’m tired of seeing everyone posting pictures or videos of their rifle targets being shot at 7 yds or 3 yds. When I shoot 3gun I’m a big fan of when we have to clear a plate rack at 50yds with a rifle or we got the small Sammy poppers. Those type of targets show who can shoot rifles well.

That’s a pretty neat target. I’ll have to print one off and see how it measures.

It should measure exactly 6" x 6" with a 1" black circle.

What I would also like to see is a list of people who score all 50 shots and then post their time to shoot all 50.

I dig the target.

On Topic:
I'm confused with the reason for the weird 50rds, aside from it just sounds cool to say 50@50.

30rds and a time limit IMO.

Cool drill.

Is it okay if I use a paper target with a 6" diameter bull?

No, it has to be grapefruit shaped.

Yes.

This is a 5.25" Shoot'n'See. I shot the drill with a Ruger 77/22, 2-7x scope, and Federal AutoMatch. The marked misses and holes outside of them  are not part of the string of fire I shot. The six holes inside the marked misses are. I have no idea how long it took me to shoot it. You've got reloads, cold line, etc. I would shoot four or five and take a break. I'm guessing shot intervals were around seven seconds, breaks about a minute. I'll be generous and call four out of 50 outside of 6".

It is a sad story but I've been working since I made the target. It looks like I won't be able to shoot it until the end of the month unless I take a day off.
