What are some good slings for stabilizing a pistol? (non braced)

I've seen a video on the "push pull" method for firing a pistol.  Are there any other techniques?  What about a buffer tube with sling?

I use a single point sling attached to the rear of my T/C Contender pistol at the top of the grip to stabilize for hunting.  The same could be done with an AR by attaching to an endplate that has a ring or a QD socket.  Tighten the sling so you have tension while also holding the handguard with your free hand.
