Sure wish I could find A1 sets like that.

Ordered a couple so I don't have to wish that about A2's.

Interesting, that's the Windham, ME Bushmaster Cage Code. Those HG's must have been stored away for at least 10 years. Bushmaster had another Cage Code for Ilion, New York later on, not sure about the Alabama factory.

Any body get theirs yet? I ordered on the 28th, and outside of an order confirmation and the charge, I haven't heard anything.

I did receive my two sets. Must've shipped out that next day.

Not sure where those came from but they were definitely repackaged to look like NOS. I got one set that was virtually brand new that I traded, and one set that was an older shiny finish and pretty used. All in all, for the price, they were well worth it.

I'd hit them up for a tracking number. Mine were shipped promptly, but have still not arrived. The tracking went dark for 8 days and then arrived in Guam. It's back in the lower 48 and about 200 miles from me. I *should* receive it tomorrow.

Finally showed up yesterday. Dude ducked me forever. Weren't these supposed to be in CAGE marked wrappers? What I got is beat up with wrecked heat shields. I did get a set plus one, but total garbage.

Doesn't get any more legit than these two options. As long as nothing has changed they are both still the exact same.

Colt

Windham Weaponry

Fingers crossed. Considering they cost more it would kinda suck if they were old beat up used surplus.

I'm going to sound like a newb here... Is there a cage code looker upper that I'm unaware of?

Also, I just have to note that the handguards pictured on The Amherst Depot site are not Colt or Windham "USGI" just based on how they interface along the edges. Just take a close look at the picture and you will see.

Post in hole interface... That's commercial territory from what I've seen. I've never seen authentic USGI or Colt handguards with that interface setup.

Great pics! I wonder if this is just a case of the pictured handguards at The Amherst Depot not being the same ones that they are actually selling? Guess someone would have to order to find out... Won't be me, I have terrible luck.

That guy gave me a run around when buying web gear. Said he was waiting for better quality ones before shipping them to me. He charged my CC while he waited for "them" to show up. Scam artist, incompetent or drunk, IDK. I will never buy from him again.

Same thing happened to me. I finally had to dispute it on my credit card I got my money back and then 3 months later a box showed up at my door with some beat-to-shit web gear. I ended up giving it to a friend's kid to play with

Heres a quick iPotato pic I snapped of the handguards. They are in great shape. Makes for a nice 711ish build by simply swapping from A1 handguards to these.

Huh, thanks for the update and pictures. Very interesting.

I'm not sure how those ended up with a cage code attached to them? Has anyone ever seen this type of A2 handguard on an actual military issued A2 or A4? As far as I know it's only ever been the Colt/Windham type.

Maybe FN was using these when they got the contract. But they are not cross compatible with the Colt type.

If I'm interpreting the label correctly, these were packaged in March 2011. These "post and hole" versions do appear different than earlier ones. Too bad I can't access the drawing for that part number. I'd like to see if this is an updated/improved/alternate configuration for this handguard. Could these be commercial items in .mil packaging? I suppose it's entirely possible. They fit together snugly with no gaps or warpage so I'm happy whatever the case.

I wil say that, if these are somehow commercial items, my hat's off to whoever did the labels and packaging. Very well done label job with barcode and contract/purchase order number.
