Something is wrong with the Geissele barrel nut.

In order for the mounting screw to catch the grove in the barrel nut, I have to keep the barrel nut loose. If I hand tighten as far as it will, the screw will not go in the grove. I ended up damaging the anodizing trying to force the screw in.

Any ideas what’s wrong? Is it the barrel nut or handguard? The build is new.

Where's the barrel?

lol.

When you have the barrel in place, the nut does not go tight against the receiver face. It stands off just a bit and tightens against the barrel extension.

Hence why it works when you have the nut a little loose…

I could’ve sworn I test fitted everything without the barrel mounted but apparently not.

My neighbor ended up coming over and told me to install the barrel and no issues at all.

Disregard my stupidity….

Thanks!

Hell yeah!  I have built numerous AR's and way more uppers and still do that sometimes when test fitting a rail to an upper receiver.
