After some inspiration from CMC, I took the carbon fiber midlength handguard I had cut out for a FSB for my 12.5” Grendel but after getting an APEX handguard for it it’s been sitting in the parts bin and put it on a 16” and it handles and feels real well on a 16” way more than a 12.5”

Gangster grip on. Took the M951 off (way too heavy up front with that and the bipod) and need to decide on a new light.

Should I get another ACOG for the MRE, or a Steiner P4Xi with P3TR reticle? Leaning towards ACOG because it plain works on how I had it set up.but Steiner has the poor man's Short Dot aesthetic going for it.

Its on, super comfortable. I actually might add a 1/3 spacer.

Now i need to stop being a lazy peice of shit and build my gangster grip, and have the barrel done up with the spr collar when that gets here. Then this bastard is done!!

Love the look, but doesn't the railed hand guard negate the need for carry handle mount? I guess maybe from an accuracy standpoint it has its benefit, but with a 1x red dot the gain in accuracy wouldn't equate to much. The height is probably a plus, especially if you add the spacer along with that high cheek weld. that said, I really like the rifle.

That and it looks higher than if it were on a flat top plus with a spacer it'd have even more height. with that riser, optic height is probably pretty important. that said, I really like the rifle.

Its around a 2.0 height iirc.
I like it super high, because i messed up my neck pretty bad a while back. I'd even like to add a 1/3rd spacer into the mix.

Absolute cowitness for me is difficult especially for what i intend for this rifle. I cant focus on the target rather all my attention goes to all the crap in my sight picture.
As for mounting it on the handguard, some people have experienced movement with it, tgis one's in very good shape so i doubt it would, but with that and absolute cowitness i made up my mind.

I zeroed it today at 25m both irons and the red dot.

Best i could do was 2 inch groups.
Same ammo through my holland at 100 i did a 1.25 in group.

Magnified optics are so much nicer lol for that anyways.

I kinda wanna swap to an acog on this thing....  but that cuts into my aem5 fund

I definitely noted that sweet reloading setup. I will (probably) never have a setup that nice, so I tried not to get too jealous. Are you taking any orders yet?

Wish I could hunt down one to try as a pistol grip. I feel like it might be better the other way around with the A2 as the vert grip but no complaints on the LSO up there.

Thinking about switching the pistol grip to a DPMS/Ergo with a palm shelf but would love to try a LSO if I found one.

Still looks like a damn good start. My start is a depressing pile on the shelf that has been untouched for too long. Now I'm sad...

Nice! Love the midlength casv. I kinda wish eod would have eventually adopted the midlength as sort of a block 2 version. I recently threw the magpul m93 back on my eod/casv build.

ETA- have you ever seen the casv delta ring made by DSArms? I’ve always wanted to check one out. It’s more square/octagonal to line up with the casv/ old magpul handguards.

First rail I ever bought was that CASV. Such a fan of it I bought one for my FAL as well. My only regret is not buying the EL version as well. Then I could have made an actual EOD clone.

I’ve seen those before. Probably would look a lot better. If they make putting on or taking off the rail a little less of a pain in the ass I’ll buy one.

They unfortunately do not change the ease or difficulty of putting the rail on. I believe They are just an aesthetic choice if you want the delta ring shape to flow with the handguard shape. If you ever decide you want to get an el version let me know, I may still have a line on the period correct version that was being made when these were being purchased for certain eod groups.

ETA-I also thought at one point vltor was planning to come out with another line of mlok casv handguards, that have an anodized finish. I’ve seen one ad about it, then haven’t heard any updates.

Your off to a good start. I'm lazy AF now with my 223 reloads. Need to get back to being anal about it. This is the batch I made last weekend. It's mixed brass, not trimmed either, spot checking powder charge was around 24.2gr of TAC, with 73 ELDM. Still held under a min!

The golden goose Douglas doesn't mind the lazy match ammo!
