My lightest build- V-Seven 7075 T6 Receivers, 7076 T6 13.5 V-7 Rail, Ti Carrier, 9310 Bolt, LW SS LPK w/ a few Ti LP's where toughness isn't as important, V-7 S7 Tool Steel LW Bolt Catch I did opt for a DD LW CHF 14.5 Mid Length Barrel over the 3.5oz lighter V-7 Barrel due to increased toughness and longevity . I often run the RMR/Scalarworks which are lighter than Scalarworks Irons. With RMR(4:10.6lbs empty). As you can see I opted for toughness and durability rather than some of the Ultra Light V-Seven Parts available, particularly Receivers and Barrel. 4:15.6lbs Empty  " />

@83rdrecon -you have to understand, I bought my first AR in 2009, please don't take offence, I'm not knocking any gun someone posts, just an observation I made (lot of Quad Rails in the Early Date Members) personally I think they are kind of heavy and now that we have a lot of different attachment systems, M Lok and Keymod seem like the lighter and more ergonomic options. I'm thinking about "Thumb Over Bore" style grips too. Anyway, I want to see everyones GoTo setup. I love the three guns @Combat_Diver posted just as much as me new KAC. I cant get enough of em really.

The URGI doesn't have a bad recoil issue though, but I shoot a lot and so it may be more apparent to a less experienced shooter that the URGI has a bit of kick. Supposedly it does have a little bit of an increase in recoil over the standard M4, 14.5 type AR. The KAC is just super smooth shooting and I think with a bit of practice I will become very fast with the URX4. The URX4 rail is slightly wider and just feels really good to hold. I have about 12 Geissele Rails so it felt kind of big, but I noticed I run all my Geissele rails Thumb Over Bore with a handstop or vertical grip that I run behind my off hand. Meaning I do not grip the Vert Grip but use it to grip around the rail and pull into my shoulder against the handstop/vert grip. With the URX4, I found holding just "Thumb Over Bore" (without any modifications made to the rail in regards to Vert Grips and Hand Stops) I had very good control of the front end of my rifle. Point being, the KAC URX4 is just super controllable out of the box. KAC does all the tuning we normally do, but at a much more professional level. Can't beat a KAC. Then again, if you want to be cool you kind of have to own a URGI these days, LMAO No really, I couldn't recommend one over the other. They are both just Super Awesome, Great Shooting, Accurate as Hell. Every one of my Buddies that has came over to the shop has drooled over both equally. One thing to note. I bought my URGI as a complete on Halloween sale, only 20% off, paid 1500 not the $1,250 people paid on BF. I received a 20% off Accessories Card from Geissele with the purchase and was able to buy Optic Bundles with the discount(I know this is the first time Geissele has done such a thing on Non Geissele Products. I got the SVPS Vortex Razor w/ DDC SOCOM Mount for $1,120.60(usually $1,399) and the Aimpoint CompM5 w/ Lower 1/3 Mount in DDC for $657.60(usually $822). That was a massive offer from Geissele IMHO, I have NEVER seen a Razor available for $1,120 or a CompM5 available for $657 without mounts. I asked Big Daddy Unlimited about matching the Razor price, they said they could not buy them for the price I paid. |

Thanks for the reply. I actually tried to get a near clone upper BF for $750 but they were out of stock. I need to sell a FAL parts kit to fund it anyway. I should have specified I was wondering about the difference in the rails specifically. I will build my own upper group with a better barrel since the idea of the "I", is IMPROVED. I have a Troy M-Lok rail that is wider than both the URX4 and the Mk16 at 1.75". I like it but the lock up is tension on an original barrel nut. I think the URX is about 1/8" wider than the Mk16. Dont worry cloners I would not post it in the clone threads

If you are going to build your own, I would definitely go with the MK16. This way you can avoid all the rotational timing issues required with putting the URX4 together. Alignment is much easier with Geissele rails especially if you have a good quality Magnified Optic Mount with recoil lugs(like a Geissele)to bridge from the rail to the receiver. Then you can torque the mount a bit and the rail is aligned with the receiver perfectly, then you just torque the rail through bolts to 8"lbs. This is how I always align my rails and the Irons are just about perfect at factory settings no windage adjustments needed. I tried to bridge a Mount across the KAC upper and rail just to check it, due to the shims required to get proper timing the pic sections would not align between the receiver and rail because the shims left quite a gap. Here is a close up image of MK16 Receiver/Rail gap and a KAC Receiver/Rail gap(note, this is a factory built KAC Mod 2 E3 Upper and a factory built Geissele URGI-  " /> " />

This would be my go to if I had to. Colt 6920 SOCOM. But, I have been offered a Springfield SOCOM16 plus extras for it which I’m seriously considering. I have three other standard Colt 6920’s.

My go to home defense “pistol”: BCM BFH 11.5” upper with kmr rail. PSA enhanced pistol lower with SBA3 brace. Arisaka 300 scout light in an inline scout mount. Aimpoint T2 in an American Defense lower 1/3 mount. Dueck Defense RTS offset sights. Frank Proctor sling stored on the brace using inner tube. 
My go “shtf” rifle: BCM BFH ELW 14.5” upper with kmr-a rail with BCM comp. Rainier Arms lower with LaRue MBT trigger and MFT stock. Streamlight protac HL-X in BCM ring mount. Trijicon TA31 ACOG with ACSS reticle and piggyback RMR. Troy folding battle sights. Frank Proctor sling stored on the stock using inner tube. |

Really like the BCM Setup and the paint scheme is very well done. Just completed the upper on my Back Up GoTo, the lower will be replaced with a Geissele DDC Lower, then its done. One other point I'd like to make about this Uperr. For the past 3 years I have avoided the Razor 1-6 because it was Stupid Heavy, 25oz.. and because I'm either a Brand Snob or "I only buy American"(which every suits my argument at the time of purchase), now that they made it slightly lighter @21oz instead of 25oz I still think it is a heavy LPVO. That being said, if you do not have a Vortex Razor, let me tell you a few things, It has the best Eye Box I have ever seen on any of my 6 LPVO(this includes my ATCAR and NXS Nightforce 1-8, Trijicon AccuPoint 1-4 & Power 1-8 and Steiner 1-5 & 1-4) and the Razor has shockingly EXCELLENT QUALITY GLASS, the locking brightness turret is also a nice feature as all LPVO owners know, you think its off then its dead next time you train. Anyway, maybe it's the Eyebox and Excellent Glass Quality/FOV but when using, I don't even notice that the Razor/GSP Mount weighs 13oz more than my other GoTo Rifles' Optic/Mount Bundle(Accupoint/Scalarworks Mount  " />

Attached File Got this left hand side charging upper in the other day and put it on this build. Still have to add a binary trigger and a 3x prism optic as well as a new stock for it to be done but I really like the left side charger. |

Glad to hear you and I are in the same boat. Adult legos, addicted, can't get enough of the new builds, factory new purchases or shooting. The only thing that would be more fun was if explosives were legal to make and machine guns were still obtainable to the Regular Joe and not just saved out by Congress for the Elites. Not knocking ANYONE WHO HAS machine guns. I will have one or two some day soon. Its just a complaint that for US to buy them at 20-30,000 isn't the same as the anti gunners like Bloomberg who are surrounding themselves with security forces who are carrying the weapons he wants to ban and its guy like him that are able to buy Machine Guns like it a toothbrush, but of course. He needs them, we probably don't right. |

Setting it up on a budget I'd just throw a surefire g2x or streamlight polytac on a vtac light mount, SIG romeo 5 or Vortex sparc red dot, vickers 2pt. sling and leave the rest of the gun as is call it roughly 220-250 bucks depending on what deals you find. If you want more optic just keep an eye out for a used Aimpoint Pro, maybe a Trijicon MRO, Eotech 512's have been pretty cheap even new for the last year, say 250-450 bucks for any of those 3 depending on used or new. Going along those lines would give you a solid go to setup in my opinion. |

Old Rock River US Property marked lower (member those?) Lightweight profile barrel Troy TRX Extreme rail Vickers Sling Aimpoint H1 TLR-1 HL Larue trigger Nothing special, but it was built right after the ban sunset in 2004, the rail was added later. It works and has been through several different classes. But soon it will be rebuilt with as an SBR with an 11.5" barrel and BCM M-Lok handguard. |
