AR10, designed by Armalite, made by AI. This one is the Portuguese model. A lot of them were brought into the U.S. in the 1980's (sans lower) so most of the kits were built up on U.S. made semi lowers (like this one). Just google 'Portuguese AR10' or 'Suadanese AR10'. If you want to know more, just start a thread in the retro forum. A lot of us have material to contribute.

My soon to be retired colt SP-1. Traded a bushmaster patrolmans carbine for it. The previous owner had an a2 stock on it so I replaced it with the correct a1 trapdoor stock and new buttplate.

I started feeling guilty about carrying it to work with me so I started looking for a suitable replacement. I found a gently used pre ban Colt Sporter Target, SER  ST 0053XX, for a song and I ran out the door with it. It was surrounded by rock river and S&W m&p carbines, so I rescued it. Apparently there is very little love for outdated muskets :-). Everyone wants to rock an m4 or some other s.b.r. because it looks cool. I like to stand out.

Moving pics here for all to enjoy my XM16E1 Model 603

On the gun boards, I've seen quite a few pix of weapons w/ the rifle grenade adapter.

But   I find it interesting that in 26 years on active duty w/ the M-16 and XM177, I never saw one of these rifle grenade adapters.
Heck, I never even knew that the M-16 could launch rifle grenades.
All the grenade lauching was done w/ the M-79 or 203...

I did, howerver, fire a dummy rifle grenade in basic using the M-14 w/ the M-14 adapter.

Rifle grenades launched from AR15s (MOdel 601s) were only used on a very limited basis during testing during project AGILE in Vietnam 62-63 (maybe late 61.  They were effective, but the Colt XM-148 40mm grenade launchers on the XM16E1s in the mid 60s replaced them.

I hope this counts as retro, it's my 723 mock up. It was assembled from bargin bin stuff and spare parts I had, It's not a perfect clone but it's still a WIP...

Looks good.  It is actually closer to a 723. Just overlook the heavy barrel.  They are very KISS. I have the same with an M4 barrel.

Thanks, I guess it's more of a frankengun (like I said, assembled out of whatever I could find) but I figured it was at least semi-retro. When I have more money I want to build something nice, maybe a clone XM177 or 607. There's a guy selling faux 605 uppers but I have a feeling that by the time I have the money he'll be sold out

I love your GAU-5A/A.  Mine is identical, except I silver soldered a grenade ring on the base of my slip over flash hider.. I had to drill it out so it would slip over like the rest of the flash hider.

I will be doing the exact same thing, along with having it converted into a muzzle brake for NJ legality, may even have the barrel chopped down a little shorter as well since it has to be permanently attached to comply with this state's law.

I need a twelve step program or another place to stay. I got an email alert this morning and I couldn't say no. It was dirty on the inside but tight :-)
http://www.marksgunsearch.com/details/11340/

Post pics later. I think it was made in 1980 and it still has the colt black paint in the staked lock ring and the bolt carrier release roll pin.

I hate it when people don't clean their weapons and then let them sit up for 30 years, it makes a hell of a mess. On the bright side, no rust, and only some light scratches. Now I just need to go shoot it and blow the dust out of the gas tube ;-)

I bet if you had just sprayed some CLP in there and shot it, the heat would have softened up and possibly just cooked off the old oil build up but either way, you did the right thing cleaning it FIRST.

What length does that barrel end up at with the FH? Was comparing to 14.5" midlength setups and couldn't quite figure it out.

XM-16E1 look alike, with a Chinese AK for an 'in-country' feel on my kitchen floor.  Nodak 603 upper with XM16E1 lower, NDS charging handle, Colt barrel assembly, buttstock assembly, upper parts, BCG, PG and HGs, and DPMS LPK with a few retro parts (selector, trigger guard and mag release button).
