I just traded an old Winchester 94 made in 1919 for this and a 1000 rounds of ammo.
I would have preferred more of an entry weapon, but for the trade I made, I could not turn it down. I want a variable length stock, something that goes both shorter and longer than stock. Any suggestions? (I had $200 in the Winchester and ended up with $400 worth of ammo ~ nothing like a better than free AR-10) I hope he loves his Winchester as much as I like my AR10. The Winchester will only continue to go up in value, this riffle? Time will tell. They have come down in price over the past few years.

The cheek piece came in today. Part # ACP My opinion? If you want an adjustable cheek piece collapsible AR stock, I am thinking you should look at the more expensive stocks, as this cheek piece accessory is on the edge of low quality. I am going to keep mine, as I do not want it raised. If I did, I may not be satisfied. Also note the barrel sock I made to keep it from getting banned up. 1" foam insulation to insulate water pipes with friction tape to cover it. This would get hot, so do not shoot this with this cover in place. Clips for this are not easy to come by. I have 9 so far. Modern ammo is running about a buck fifty a round, and is not easy to find as well. 16" DPMS LR-308
Pieced together from gunshows, EE, gunbroker, etc VTac handguard UBR Timney 3# drop-in trigger Springfield ART IV scope (From EE) on GG&G lever mount Eotech 552 with GG&G lever Vortex I partially wrapped the VTac because i like the texture better. The buckle is a sling mount. The color overall color matches better in person, weird flash/lighting. 
Yes, the VTac is supposed to be offset with the .308 so it can have the same diameter as the AR-15 VTac

Yea, easy install, followed the suggested procedure:
Install the outer barrel nut as far down as it'll go with red loctite. Put a drill bit / dowel pin in the gas tube hole to line it up. Snug on the inner barrel collar. Let sit overnight. Remove inner collar, install barrel, install / torque collar. install gas block / flash hider. Done. I used a standard DPMS multi wrench. Forgot if i used the standard barrel nut side or the stud side... |

SASS. It's a nice touch that DPMS used a milspec receiver extension. I'm working up loads for it right now using 178gr AMax bullets, Varget, Lapua brass, Fed primers.

I didn't realize there's a separate DPMS picture thread, so here goes.
On a whim,I bought a DPMS complete lower, marked .223/5.56. I found a DPMS 6.8 Upper marked 5.56 on the box, so I got it at the lower price. I now have a DPMS rifle.

P/U a used LR-308. Barrel cut down to 20" and threaded. Hope it shoots ok. Hoping to get to the range this week.
12lbs with bi-pod and scope. Trigger pull is 7lb

First, I want to apologize for the blurry pic. The flash was not turned on, and it was getting dark out. Rifle is a LR-308, Leupold VX-I 3-9 and 165 gr Prvi Partizan soft points. Deer was taken at 200 yards, one shot through both lungs. Its a nice symmetrical 5x5. |
