I searched for this previously on here with no results, maybe my search-fu is off, my apologies if it is.
Those of you that read my previous post might have noticed I mentioned that my rifle is overgassed but what I didn't mention is that at some point in the future I'd like to get a suppressor and an adjustable gas block might come in handy but i'm broke at the moment and I like to tinker. Why buy when I can build?
Well, onto the guts of this post. Most of the DIY ones are either tapped in the side and directly restrict gas flow between gas port & gas block and yet others are tapped from the front. I have two questions regarding this, 1, for the side tap, does the screw only contact the passageway or will the tube be drilled? 2, with the front tap, does that also directly restrict the passageway or is there a section that goes into the gas tube? Not all designs are the same and the holes are sometimes in different spots. maybe the user that likes cutting ammo in half has cut an adjustable gas block in half? LOL, not holding my breath for that though. Those of you that have one might be the most insightful, though I'm sure there are some engineer types on here that may know also. Any help would be great
