Should I  use this on a 603 build ?
This unit is the original model from late 70,s to mid 80,s I belive.
Not sure if it was military issued ever. It is serialized.

Possibly correct accessorie for 603 build.or no it's to new?
Thanks.

I believe that's a newer model, mid 80s+. Early ones didn't have the "exempt tritium" markings. Thumb screw is unlikely to be original.

Would be curious to see the numbering you mention.

The large usable without a tool screw was all my doing.
Here's the pic you requested.

Armson's were early '80's tech.
I bought mine new in 1981 or 1982 and it's a sub 14K S/N.

(ETA- After further research, it seems like I got it in 1983)

So I guess the answer is- no, it's not close to 603 vintage.

I guess I'll refresh it with new  Tritium lamps
And put on top till something more correct or parts comes along.
Upon exploring  Armson  web pages , this one while made in the late 80,s
Has the tube , the same as the original  from the 70,s
Roll Mark's changed and knobs have a different look.
The new RETRO II
They sell now looks very different.
This looks very similar  to the 70,s model

There were no 70's Armson OEG's.
They were introduced in 1981 and imported into the US starting in 1983 by Armson USA, which was later renamed Trijicon.

.

The link below is from the armson OEG web page.
And while your history is also what is posted about importation
In 1981.

Unless I misread they were in existence in the 70,s
Maybe just not called Armson.?

Any way.
Upon more web browsing  what I have might more in line with an m16a2
Rifle  and the Marines dealing with Manuel Noriega in 1989.
Panama.

They really didn't change the design much until recently. I expect they have had an aweful lot of dead stock around at various times, being a 40 yr old sight.

If you wanted something for a 603 a Singlepoint would really be more era-correct.

Not everyone can use these sights. The only thing you see with your aiming eye is a dot inside a black window. With both eyes open your other eye sees the target and your brain is tricked into superimposing the dot on target.

A friend of mine gave up on trying to use his and gave it to me. It is very fast and meant for instantaneous snap shooting, not for accurate aimed fire. A modern RDS is better in every possible way.

I had one mounted on an UZI Model A in the early 80's and a Mini-14 GB FS. I still kick myself for selling the UZI.

I had the Tritium recharged a long time ago by Trijicon and they only charged me $35 each. It costs much more than that nowadays. I don't think Trijicon will even touch them anymore, a new company was trying to take that product line over the last time I checked.

These units are 100% correct for an A2 . They were adopted by USMC and used in Panama invasion 1989
Great news. Armson inc has 2 upgrades available  for these older units. First is relamping .
New tritium.
$39.95 plus return shipping

Well, damn, now I want one for my XM177. I sometimes shoot my SOCOM with the front lens cover down over my Aimpoint, so this style of close-range shooting should be a snap.
