[Last Edit: AKzgalore]
Looking for a cheap BCG to disassemble & cut-up for an experiment project; was initially going to aim to 3DP it out of a metal with a cheapo ching chong shop but couldn't get ahold of a good file or far lower costs as I had hoped after posting in that sub (besides, intl. shipping of technically ITAR-reg items? Nahh....).
Therefore without regard to quality given my aforementioned purpose, where can I get the cheapest complete M16 BCG out on the market right now? I've identified one shop with blems that would be $48 'out-the-door' for me. Can anyone beat that? Riverofguns.com is down so I can't check classifieds. |

Somebody may know something else, but THESE are the cheapest ones I know of at the moment.
If you can get past that infernal ad hijacking piece that runs on this site |
|

Surplus ammo .com
Battlehawk armory both in the 60s plus shipping |
|
|
Maybe combat armory would have one for cheap.

I just bought one of the ones with lady liberty holding up an AR. Seems like a toolcraft carrier and some C158 bolt that actually looks decently clean. The gas rings are a little snug, but other than that it seems fine for a low cost BCG. Only have a few hundred rounds on it, so longevity is unproven. Of course I didn't get all the small parts you did, just this BCG and an FDE A2 birdcage, but my package was adequate. Wrapping and bubble stuffed. |

I think they have different grades too. These were like 55ish each buying 10 at a time making them the cheapest ones they sell. Maybe they are fine and I just got a bad batch but it's just not worth it to me personally. They were not all bad to my knowledge but just by the numbers on the ones that were its too much for me to trust. |

Average price right around $70 plus shipping.... And I just noticed NO TAX. |

Hmm...some good deals here, but I mean considering the OP, yours truly, managed to buy new $44 Brownells BCGs last year, a blem $48 one from unknown sourcing quality seems underwhelming as the best price so far...
I might just get a Toolcraft and swap with my cheapest one at the end of the day, but considering I actually just need a stripped carrier for this potential fail of an experimental project, I was thinking the days of $25 and $30 BCGs still existed... |

These are all good deals, but Cheaper Than Dirt's $15.95 stripped carrier took the deal for me, especially after their $15 off $100 coupon for first-time buyers.
I know they get a lot of **** from a lot of places but they actually pitched a solid with me on that one order for it... |

I ordered some other stuff in it and it seems to me to have been repackaged, for some of the items don't actually look like OEM stuff from the brands they advertise. That bolt carrier for instance was supposed to be Doublestar/JTD; it's clearly marked 'MGI'. MGI may be using contract-ordered stuff from other brands since I doubt they forge & machine a ton of stuff in-house, but still...anyhow, it's CTD, what can you expect? But I'd say I still got what I wanted for the money I paid for. |
|
|
Thanks for the reply. I figured it would be different than what was pictured. I ordered a carrier with a key a while back and got one of those chopped up MGI carriers in the packaged instead of what was pictured. I don't think it was CTD that was to blame for what was in the marked plastic package I got.

|

Sure it was. I never checked if the cut out bottom made it set lower in an upper receiver though.
Guess I should have but I put it in the "hope they have a local gun buy back pile o parts". I ordered one but assume it will be the same as yours just without a key like the last one had. |
