A friend of mine gave me a copy of his receipt from his first Colt 601 purchase. I scrubbed the pertinent info, but thought everybody would like to drool over the price. Note that it was just listed as an M16, and yes, it is just a three digit Colt 601!!!

601 is a machine gun? Is this an SP1?

Would that 601 be serial number 252?

The receipt for my AR10 says it originally cost Interarmco $119 in back in 1961.
The total dollar cost of $1190 was because the order consisted of 10 identical
Portuguese AR10/bipod guns.  If you see a Transferable bipod AR10, its from
that same batch.

Didn't look at the date... I thought I was missing something.

Is that dated Feb 86 or July 86?  If it was July 86 that was a decent price. I remember regular US Property marked Colt 603's already hitting 2k by the end of 86. My dad got his Colt 603 for $900 with the stamp back in 1983. Those were they days for sure.

Close, but no cigar.  Too bad, that would be neat if we could mate up a matching scope to a rifle.
