I was just curious what everybody’s favorite bore cleaner/solvent was to remove fouling without harming the barrel in any way. I was considering using Gun Scrubber and then a light coat of CLP & patches after but I’m a novice. Thank you.

I'm a big fan of Wipe Out's Patch Out. Then after cleaning it, I'll normally oil it with CLP. However, lately I've been using Mobil 1 as an oil after cleaning it.

Wipe out

Read about this product here on ARF and I’ve been pretty impressed.

Boretec eliminator.

For copper fouling they make a decent one as well, called cu2 i think? Though you really don't need to remove copper fouling all that often.

M-Pro7 ftw.
I was banned from using Butch's Bore Shine in the house.

A good rod and bore guide, plus jags, brushes, mops, and patches are more important than the powder residue solvent.

I also use a home made pull through made from trimmer line for a quick clean at the range. Patch worm is a good substitute.

I use Pro Shot products and IOSSO brushes when I want a stiff nonmetallic brush.

I agree.   Good brushes and cleaning rod is a key to bore cleaning.  Any of the solvents mentioned above work but a good new bore brush will speed things up.
For stubborn copper I’ve used KG 12 with good results.

He said fowling not copper.

Kg1 & #9 mix gets the black down.
Nothing short of scrubbing will take you back to like new

MPro7 for normal cleaning.

Sweets762 if I need to de-copper.

Same on both at the moment.

That Sweets smells so bad, but it has pulled more copper out of hard-use barrels after I tried other copper removers. Seems like good stuff.

I've been satisfied with Hoppe's #9, MPro 7, and Boretech Eliminator. The Boretech seems to do the best job of removing copper but all 3 are good at removing powder fouling.

I’ve had very good results with Wipeout foam and their accelerator fluid. Very fast and pretty effortless. Basically brush free cleaning. I also occasionally use JB bore paste on VFG pellets if something is crazy stubborn.

Yup

That CU+2 is the best thing I've found for copper. Better than sweets, butches, eliminator

I'm a huge Wipe Out fan especially a combo of their accelerator and foam. It works really, really well.

And it doesn't just stop with the bore too. You can shoot the foam into a bcg into the gas keys and holes and it'll melt the carbon and fouling right off. Literally no cleaning so long as you wait for a little while.

I haven't cleaned my bore much other than running a bore snake/patches down the barrel with some cleaner. I don't think you should need to scrub it clean like some people suggest, but some people really enjoy cleaning things.

This is all I do too. I'll run a couple of patches through damped with M-Pro7 and leave it be. How does one determine if a barrel needs copper removed?

Butch’s Bore Shine works great at removing copper for me. Hoppes no. 9 work, but gotta let it soak first.

I have a few cans of this stuff.  Works pretty good for those occasional deep cleanings, or after shooting corrosive stuff.

Seems like I've read here, in another thread, that Sweets 7.62 is corrosive.
I had just bought a bottle, and it has never been opened.

I will stick to the stuff I've been sniffing for over 50 years, Hoppe's #9.

Been using Hoppe's #9 for over 40 years for standard bore cleaning.  Followed by an oily patch after the cleaning, before putting it back in the safe, or gun case.

Used 3n1 oil for lube for years till I started using Mobil 1 about 15 or 16 years ago.

I have used the Bore Tech stuff for copper and for lead (two different formulas) and it seems to work great.  I clean after every range trip so I've never had much of an issue with copper build up.  I've bought some used guns over the years that did have a build up and the Bore Tech copper cleaner/remover was a quick clean up.

Bought some Sweet's 7.62 one time.  Darn stuff ate through the plastic bottle and ate the shit out of the metal shelf the bottle was sitting on.  Tossed it out and never bought anymore.

When I clean a rifle barrel I run the rod through from the muzzle end, put the patch tip/brush on it and pull the patch/brush back through the barrel from the chamber to the flash suppressor/muzzle.  Two reasons.  First is the rod doesn't bend under tension (pulling) like it does when you push it (compression) so little to no contact between the rod and lands.  Second is I'm cleaning the barrel.  Why would I want the crud I'm cleaning from the barrel to be dragged back into the chamber/receiver area of the rifle?  Pull it out the muzzle end and it's just gone, not displaced somewhere else in the barrel/action.

If you do go with the Bore Tech stuff (and likely any copper removal cleaner) buy some nylon or stainless brushes.  The copper remover will speed up the wear/destruction of  the standard brass/bronze brushes most of us use for barrel cleaning.

Boretech eliminator.

And very rarely, boretech cu2 copper remover if it's a very fouled barrel.

Hoppe's Number 9 Bore Cleaner. Been using it for 40+ years, and my father for another 40 years before me. Never failed either one of us

Hoppes #9.  Haven't found another carbon solvent that beats it.  KG-12 for copper fouling.
