Just a WAG on my part. ETA: The gas impingement type AR's are also known to "shit in their mess kit". The bolt is part of that mess kit.  |

Yes I noticed this from time to time where sometimes the bolt tail would get some sort of ultra hard carbon buildup where you scrub it with a brass brush and it turns to this gold color and it still doesn’t come off. I think the OP got that based on how it looks to me from the picture and it is not a burr on the metal. Only thing I found that seems to work very well would be the breakthrough suppressor cleaner and I’ve been using it and never had to scrub the bolt tail all that much after soaking it for a while in this cleaner solution. |
