Barrel in question

I’m looking into doing a 10.3 in pistol build, as with all my rifles this needs to be stone cold reliable, I’m thinking about building this for a personal defense option for my home.

They are extremely gtg. I’ve used their standard barrels and hanson profile barrels

I would go with this one, I have the 16" "Hanson" w/low pro and have been very impressed so far.

BA "Hanson" .750

I'm really happy with my BA 16" Hanson profile, I would look into that.

Have that exact 10.3 very happy with it. Also happy with my other BA barrels. Buy with confidence. FWIW Androcorp barrels are made by BA

If running suppressed, I'd look into the gas port diameter.

Androcorp has 10.3s that are gtg also.
Eta:
Nothing wrong with BA quality overall.

I'd also check to make sure the muzzle is concentric to bore before suppressing.

I had an 8" BA that was out. BA did replace it without any issue.

I don’t plan on a suppressor anytime soon, it may happen in the future.

how do I check for concentric threads?

What buffer should I be using? Carbine or H?

Attach suppressor to the barrel, slide in wooden dowel of appropriate diameter.

I have a Spikes st-t2 buffer laying around would that work? It weighs a little less than a H2

I own over 30 rifles with BA barrels on them, from 7.5" to 16" in various profiles and they are all good shooters and I have never had a problem with any of them, I know they have released a few into the public that have had a problem, but it is the exception and not the norm.

Not about the chatter marks in the bore because I really didn’t notice them initially.
This is what had my attention after I got a chance to shoot it. They offered to polish the chamber, but I was more than capable of doing it myself, so I opted not to send it back. Needless to say that after my third bad barrel in a row, they took good care of me.

Why did you remove your pics from the previous thread?

The inner coating looks terrible on that barrel.  There is another thread that was started about a BA barrel having a bad chamber that caused a casing to break/ split in a circular separation.  That is 2 or 3 barrels in the past 2-2.5 years that have been bad now.  Maybe they aren’t the quality barrel manufacture many of us thought they were.

I have a 9mm barrel sitting in a box on its way back right now.   They’ve been very receptive to correct the issue.

Edit.  Receptive meaning, quick communication and paying for shipping both ways.

I didn’t remove them. My photo hosting was having issues and somehow the link no longer works. I went back to the thread to update the link, but the thread is now archived with no way for me to edit my post.

Welp, I've only heard good things about them. I ordered a 16" 5.56 BA barrel from Primary Arms last week, should be in tomorrow or Wednesday. Will post in here on how it looks.

Between the issues they're having with properly cutting threads, gas port sizing issues that I've personally had, and them sending replies to customer service emails from un-monitored email addresses....

I'd pass.

What would you recommend? I have a pistol I wanted to finish and I’m down to only needing a barrel. I wanted to try out a hanson in either 11.3 or 10.3.

Here's another active thread discussing issues some are having, myself included, with Ballistic Advantage barrels.  Mine shoots fine now but issues with muzzle threads and the gas port were an eye opener.  I'm going to give Faxon a go the next time I need a tube.

I’m fairly certain you will be happy with your purchase.  It’s been 4-5 months since I last purchased a BA barrel so maybe the quality has changed in the past 4-6 months, not sure.  I have or have helped install 16-20 of BA’s barrels in just about every caliber, line and length and I have had no issues with my barrels or the barrels I helped install other than their threads not being relieved so you cannot direct mount a few suppressors.  I have only had one issue with a barrel over to past 3-4 years (out of 35-38 barrels I’ve either owned or helped install) and it was a Faxon.  They were very proactive with taking care of the issue and I was more than compensated for my troubles.  The only negative was that it took roughly 10-12 weeks but that was only because of an inventory issue.  I never posted any of it on the forums because there was no need to.  I own/ have owned/ have helped install BA, Faxon, Larue, Palmetto and BCM barrels for the AR15/ AR10 platform.

If it were me, for that length I'd be looking at Daniel Defense, Colt, FN, BCM, PSA hammer forged...stuff along those lines.

Got my BA barrel in today. I think it looks great. Coatings good, threads good. Chamber looks good best I can tell. Ran several patches through it, the bore was pretty dirty. But that's expected.
