Anyone here had an issue with their barrels being extremely hard to thread on a comp/brake/birdcage?
I've got an 18" Hanson profile and the vg6 epsilon brake. The brake will not thread on but maybe 2 threads by hand. I was fortunate enough to find a local store that deals mainly in ars and he test fit the brake on a few barrels he had in the back, and the brake spun on freely. I did check the od of the thread on the barrel and I got .500-.501". So it's definitely 1/2" threads. Thanks for ya'lls input |
| My 14.5 BA Hanson Barrel threads were off by .007", enough that I could only turn the device (Surefire Warcomp CTN) 2-3 threads before it stopped. I had sent the upper/barrel off for a pin weld job with Buhler Ballistics. The barrel threads were cleaned up on the lathe and the upper was completed. I didn't bother to contact BA for a replacement because I had been waiting for this upper to be complete for months and it was already at the machine shop. |
| Had the same issue on a 16” hanson with the epsilon. I ran a die over the threads and it helped but it was still a pain and really didn’t feel right especially for that quality of a barrel other wise. I thought it was a fluke at the time (6 months ago) gun shoots great though now. |

| I had a 14.5 Hanson that was hard to get the DA Flash Hider on past the first couple of threads, but it went on with a wrench and after that could be put on and off by hand. I don't recall having any issues with the 10.3 Hanson, and I have a 16" I have not messed with yet. All 3 were purchased around the same time towards the end of last year. |

| Sorry to hear of these issues people are having with the BA muzzle threads, I'm in the same boat. Bought a 11.5" modern series and a standard A2. I could thread the flash hider on a turn or two by hand and could go no further. After removing it I ran a thread chaser die over the barrel a few times and at no time did it feel smooth. I also ran a chaser tap through the A2 just to be safe and that went through easily. So I taped up the flash hider flats, put a wrench on it and worked it down to the crush washer to get it installed. It took more force by far than any other muzzle device I've ever installed. I didn't really want to mess with an exchange and the time/cost involved. It's on there now but things don't sit right with me and I worry about what I'll find if it ever needs to come off. This is my first Ballistic Advantage barrel and I can't say it gave me the warm and fuzzies. After all that I went to shoot it and brass was coming out hard, ejecting to one o'clock with a H 3.8 oz. buffer. This is quite distracting in my field of vision. I installed a 4.7 oz. H2 but haven't fired it yet, still it seemed really hot for an H buffer and .223 I'm sure things will be fine with the heavier buffer but I'm not exactly thrilled with the barrel experience. I was hoping to put an adjustable gas block on it after I saw the ejection but I'm a little nervous about removing the A2 right now. |

Emailed them about an undersized gas port on a barrel.
They replied with a canned response blaming everything but their barrel, but using an email address that I later learned wasn't monitored...... received no reply.... Then I get notification that my ticket was closed due to me not taking further action, a month later. Apparently replying to their emails doesn't work, yet nowhere in their initial contact do they explain you have to log in under an account, and do further communication under the ticket number they assign. Fixed it myself and decided I'll stick with quality barrels from here on out with customer service that actually works in the event its needed. Not impressed, at all...and won't buy any of their stuff moving forward. |

Had the same problem; very 'dirty' threads with burs and other machining junk still in them. Also, if you think the threads are bad, take a peek in there with a bore scope. It took a lot of break in to burn out the burs and chatter marks in the barrel, but it shoots pretty well after 300 rounds or so. You get what you pay for with AR15 parts. With all the very cost-competitive products out there now, the give has to be somewhere.... Pretty good value still for a loaner or gun that will get burned out pretty fast. Quoted:

Their port sizes are very conservative; which I like. I have not had to use a heavier buffer or spring in any of their products. |
| I had a similar issue with a 10.3 BA Hanson and 16”. Both I got my Surefire muzzle devices installed by screwing on a bit then backing it off and then screwing it more. It seemed like the threads were just a bit oversized, but everything eventually went together smoothly. |

Well, I just bought and installed a 16" BS Hanson barrel from RTB. No issues with the install, and the Surefire Warcomp flash suppressor screwed on easily by hand. From all of the other threads I've read and my own experience with this barrel, I was thinking that BA barrels are quality parts. This thread has me a bit worried now though, esp. the comment about the bore. |
| I ordered a 22" 6.5 CM barrel several weeks ago and was waiting on my compensator to arrive. It got here this morning and I'm glad to report no issues with mine. The JP Enterprises compensator spun on freely and looks good with the barrel. Barrel is the .936 GB version and the comp is one of the larges ones, .825 I believe. |

Pin/weld is done and I’ll pick up Tuesday. They had to chase the threads as it looked like they were bulged in the middle. Personally I’d have rather called BA, but what’s done is done. After chasing the threads it screwed on properly though. No idea wtf there. So long as it shoots/cycles properly, I’ll be happy. |
