White Oak Armamemt maybe worth looking at. I know they do a bunch of non-standard lengths.

Non standard length or non standard in some other way?

Not length. Other dimensional mods

might have to pay for it but I would try a local custom machine shop.

I had a few built by a machine shop

gave them some 1/4" non seemed SS tubing to turn down to match the ends of a gus tube to make super gas tubes for f/a.

You can try Macon Armory; I believe they will make you a custom gas tube.

Black River Tactical has gas tubes that you can specify what diameter port it has, effectively controlling gas without having to worry about an adjustable gas block. I have one coming for a 10.5 upper that will be exclusively suppressed.

Suppressed/unsup? Ammo?

A Colt 14.5in M4 barrel has a .062 gas port, decent choice for all around use.

No suppressor
m193 mostly

looks like .0625 or .061 are options. Wonder if .61 is too small

Curious what @Amphibian thinks

It'll be just fine with .061. M193 is plenty hot. I'd go H2 but you might have to go H1 buffer, plenty of lube till its broken in and port erodes a little. I like smaller rather than bigger with port sizes to an extent.

I could probably drill the .061 tube out to .0625 (1/16) if it's too small with a cordless drill ... right?

do you think constricting the gas at the tube will cause it to erode and open up to the gas block port size?

I'd drop buffer weight before drilling but it is an option I suppose.

I'm sure the gas tube will erode over time. Will depend on round count/shooting schedule. Probably be like shooting out a barrel. Depends on the acceptable amount of wear to you.

How did they turn out? I think gas tubes are often overlooked as failure points, especially when applied to high rates of fire.

they were fine but I found out the gas tube is not a "fuse" unless you have a heavy barrel.

Since I run mostly govt profile its not worth using them

+1  .0625 is what a Colt 14.5" M4 barrel is.

You can always open it up bigger...cordless drill is fine...I'd agree that it will get eroded faster than if you used a port restricted gas block though..but as others mentioned, all comes down to your firing schedule
