Going through the parts drawer and kinda got nostalgic when I came across one. Dont remember how old it is, but has a 4 position tube on it and its in great shape.
Any reason to NOT use it on a SBR'ed lower that I run a Mk18ish upper on?

I just recently gave one of those to a buddy in some squirrel box finds - stuff I will never really use. Looks like an M4 stock, right?

Kind of wish I still had one - would get it cerakoted OD Green for my A2 receivered AR. I am thinking it gives some counter-balance and should easily be a lot stronger than the polymer versions. I have seen guys drop the polymer stocked carbines onto a hard surface and the lower corner of the stocks snap off.

That is a fine stock to use.
I wish I would have not sold the rifle I had one on back in the late 90's
Lemme know if you decide to sell it...LOL

The older aluminium ones are fairly desirable. I have a Colt aluminium stock and it is a lot better than the polymer one. Not so much in durability, but it just feels better.

Mine is Quality Parts circa 1988, which became Bushmaster.
Excellent stock.

So what I have gathered is there is a smooth painted version and a speckled painted version. I have the latter. Can anyone give info on dates and such?

Were those old Bushmaster stocks made to fit a standard diameter receiver extension? I was under the impression that their stocks have always been sized for commercial tubes, but my only experience is with their plastic stocks.

The one I have came with a tube that measured 1.170” in diameter. The tube is shorter than today’s tubes. If I put the stock on one of today’s tunes the tube sticks out. The finish is like a textured look to it and “rough” to the touch. And while the tube it came with is commercial OD, it has a flat back, unlike the angled ones of today. It seems solid

It the tube 3 position? All the Bushmaster's that I have seen have been 3 position.
