Google foo was never one of my strong points, but have been looking around for a fast twist 7.62x39 barrel and 1:9.5 (which may as well be 1:10 twist) barrels is the fastest twist I'm seeing.

I'm looking for 14.5" or longer barrel length is fine.  Don't even care about barrel profile.  All of that can be fixed how I want it on the lathe.

But does anyone make a fast twist x39 barrel that a guy could load up and use subs or supers with?

Thanks for any help letting me know where to look or what company may be making them.

A 1:10 will stabilize up to 200 grain bullets.

OK, that would work fine.  Some of the subsonic pills that I've launched are 190's so that would work.  I don't necessarily need to use the 220 and 240 gr stuff.

Thank you.

If you are using 308 bullets you could order your own blank and have someone chamber it up for you.

I'm mostly going to be shooting regular (supersonic) 7.62x39, but wasn't wanting to paint myself into a corner because sometimes it'll be suppressed and I wanted to try to load up some subs for plinking too.

Most of the time though, it'll be shooting supers.

Looks like Faxon is making some 1:8 twist barrels.  That's probably what I'll use in this.  I think they'll do ok with 220's, which is mostly what I have on hand if I use any of the 308 pills that I used to use in the 300 blk.

Faxon has a .308 bore. Not sure if you're looking for .311 bore or if it matters to you.

If you reload, .308 bore is the best bore, way more bullet options than .310"/.311".

.308 bullets shoot fine from .310/.311" barrels, .311" is probably too fat through a .308.

I think it will depend on the velocity/pressure.  I push .312 bullets through a .308 hole all the time, but in 32 Mag and not x39.  Not sure if x39 would spike or not, might just slide right down and out.

I use a 16" mid-length with a 1/10 twist on my 7.62x39 and it runs great, can't recommend it enough.
