I am getting a rifle set up for passive night vision with an EXPS3. What's the consensus of the M600V? Initially I was thinking about mounting 2 lights, one of them being dedicated IR, but I didn't realize the M600V would go between white and IR. It looks like I could just mount the vampire light and have a pretty KISS rifle with lots of capability. I know it's reduced illumination and not as cool as having an IR Laser, but this seems like a winning combination.

I could have asked on the Night Vision board, so yell at me if you want, but I kinda want the hardcore weapon light guys' opinion.

Realistically, inside 50 yards and it'll be fine. Jack of both trades, master of neither.

I think it's a great light. The V2 has MUCH better IR illumination than my DBAL A3, like 5X more reach. I'd say it will reach out to 150 yards depending on the color of the "target" ambient light, shadows, and the quality of your NODs.

I also think the EOTEC works the best for passive and my one XPS beats the pants out of my Aimpoints. The Aimpoints really require illumination on dark no-moon nights.

Changing the light's output from IR to white light takes a few seconds and they can be hard to turn. So it's not the setup for pure tactical emergency white light but for hunting or KISS it's great.
