My first 6.5 Grendel build. SPR type with AA 18" barrel. I'll be swapping the PRS out for a UBR shortly, as the PRS is going on the 24" Grendel I'm building.

I recently received my .50 Beo upper from Lar's at Ulmaut Industries.

QD Sling plate Ergo grip BCM Upper Rec BCM Bolt Carrier BCM Gunfighter CH Alexander Arms 16" mid-length bbl Primary Weapons Custom comp JP/VTac free-float tube GG&G FLT ring/base scope mount Santa is supposed to be bringing glass for me; a Leupold European 2-7x w/ Germ #4 ret. 
Seeing how the caliber marking on the bbl was covered by the FF tube, I decided to mark the receiver.

6.5 Grendel

I recommend you consider the DD Lite rail instead and the Magpul MIAD grip too. The DD has the strongest attachment method that I've seen and the MIAD that I installed on my 6.5G is very nice and has lots of adjustments for size and comfort.

I am tagging this for further inspiration when I get my Grendel upper on its way to being completed (all parts ordered and should be on their way in the next few days)
So far I have ordered; 16" Middy Barrel from AA with Bolt and A2esque FH BCM Auto Bolt carrier BCM M4 upper receiver Daniel Defense Gas Block gas tube and roll pin and Lee Reloading Dies. My FF tube is a DPMS on loan from a buddy until I can decide on a railed HG or something else. My Scope mount will be either Burris Tactical Rings or a LaRue SPR mount without the QR function(The difference in price might mean the difference between having a new reloading press or not) My scope is a Leupold VX-II 2-7x that I am sending off to get either M1 or M3 knobs put on it and a mil-dot or TMR reticle. |

If you ment the handguard in the above picture link of the 6.5 Grendel, it's a Yankee Hill Machine Diamond Rail and yes they are sweet. I have one on a 18" SPRish build I just finished. I'm thinking of putting one on my .50 Beowulf build I'm starting. But those ARMS SIRs look good too, very nice .50 Beo war hammer you have there HighRail.

| I can't comment on weight versus the DD stuff, but they are good quality. My only complaint concerns the diameter. I switched to ladder rail covers on mine just to trim it down a bit. I have long fingers, but still didn't feel like I could get a solid grip on the damn thing with normal covers.....fwiw. I do love the overall look of the thing. |

As far as the weight goes, think of it like the picture quality of a 1080P TV vs. a 720P TV, unless your have them side by side...would you ever really know? Now the price I love, I got the rifle length one on sale from www.blackweaponsarmory.com for $110 shipped. |

A Specter lenght is about 3/4 on an inch longer than a mid-length FF. And the rifle length is aprox. 12 3/8 of an inch so it comes up flush with the BACK of the gas-block seat.. YHM has what they call a Specter XL on their XL Carbine, but I'm pretty sure it's just a rifle length. But there's No harm in calling to check it out, they are always very helpfull and more than happy the answer tech. questions. Gunny is right tho, they are very nice! You may have to go with a different company that makes an extended rifle rail, I've seen 'em on rifles listed in various picture threads on here, but I couldn't tell you where to start looking for one. Keep asking around on the site, I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction. Good luck and happy building. |
