Was going thru the A2 pic thread, and saw a lot of Aimpoints mounted on them.

What mounting ring do most of y'all use? Is it best to buy a Aimpoint low ring, or will any 30mm low ring work OK?

For reference. PRO on a gooseneck.

For an A1/A2 upper I'd prefer to mount on the carry handle (no gooseneck).

I picked up an A.R.M.S. #16A to do the deed on a retro, but it's not mounted yet.

Looks like this (not my pic):

Goosenecks are gross. Embrace the height.

That's where I started.  Almost 20 years ago, I was looking into a red dot sight for my fixed carry handle AR.  I tried an A.R.M.S goose neck mount.  Kept it several years, going through a bunch of carbine matches.  No problems.  Finally, traded the AR for a flattop and went to an Aimpoint Comp.

That looks most good.

I read about the A.R.M.S. #16A a few days ago, but their out of stock everywhere I looked.

A gooseneck may be more practical, but I could never get over the hideous looks of them.

I really like the Maryland Gun Works short Weaver mount. You have to call to order but they are only like $30 and are rock solid. I have a Primary Arms low 30mm ring on mine.

Have you considered a T2 instead of a Pro? This is an AMRU Designs mount. Simplifies a lot of things about mounting a red dot on a carry handle if you switch from the tube optics.

I already have a like new PRO sitting in a box on top of one of my safes. Took it off a flat top upper I traded even for a A2 upper.

This thread is giving me flashbacks. Hated the  “chin weld”.on my A2.  Was so happy after the ban ended in 2004 to toss the aimpoint M2 on a flat top Colt 6920.

Call A.R.M.S. They may be in stock and just not listed on the website.

I'm using a #16A on my 6520. Love it!

Any low ring will work. The wider the better.
These are what Aimpoint Supplied with the early Comp Ms and are cool if you can find one.

It seems that MGW mount has been discontinued.

What carry handle mount's are quality made. I don't want something like nc star. I saw Leupold makes one that looks kinda short.

I just ordered the MGW a couple weeks ago. They had both the long and short in stock. They aren't listed on their website. You have to call.

ARMS or Smith enterprises is my recommendation.  The Smith is very solid and I’d say better than the ARMS.

Just ordered one, and hopefully the right 30mm low ring from Primary Arms.

Thanks.

Just my damn luck!

My Maryland Gun Works rail is arriving Friday, Primary Arms 30mm ring Thursday.

Found a ARMS #16 mount today and bought it. Really wanted this.

Between shipping and possible restocking fees, I'll just keep them for another project.

I wanted to mimic the vertical split on the clones, so tried this.
https://warnescopemounts.com/213lm-warne-30mm-qd-low-matte-rings/

Worked well enough. I ended up doing something else entirely clone unrelated, tho.

I have a couple others I could mount it on, but it would look ghetto.

You just need one like the bottom one, but with an 11.5" lightweight Commando barrel.

Delta did that.

I know, but I had this 10.5" barrel laying around. It's actually stainless steel.
