I bought a salty comp M2 a few months ago. It had some wiggle in the knob on arrival but I went with it b/c price and I wasn't even sure I'd use the clone-inspired gun it was for. Now, after light use, the knob doesnt click at all and light doesn't activate. I removed the knob (cover) and tried to turn on by turning the inside rod with pliers...no go but still has some click feedback. It's old and salty, I'm assuming AP wouldn't do much for me. Thoughts? @Acebris b/c i see a thread from 2021 on the same topic that never got updated with results. https://www.ar15.com/forums/AR-15/Aimpoint-Comp-M2-repair-/18-767597/ ETA: I emailed them with the serial number and issue description, said I wasn't sure if it was former .mil or LE. They didn't turn me away, sent me an RMA # and I shipped it to them to review. Will keep the thread posted once I know more. ETA 2: Got an email back, the day after they received it, saying they were going to repair it and it'd take a few weeks to get it back. They did not say anything about the serial number so maybe it wasn't LE or .mil, don't know. Final ETA I guess they never ran the serial number before telling me to send it in. I got the broken optic back with a note saying they couldn't repair it b/c it was former .mil. Bummer. |

I wouldn’t even think about just sending it in without calling them and verifying the serial number with them. There have been tons sold to the .mil and civies alike. The only way to know what you have is to call. I bought mine new in the pack 100 years ago from a dealer and I would still call if I needed service. |

My LE agency has a couple dozen Aimpoints received from LESO/DLA and we have all the paperwork to prove it, but they didn’t care. (We have a local National Guard Armory we could ship from too.) I never found another source for spare parts so a few are still broken. it's a shame particularly since some repairs might be pretty simple for them. In my case, the power knob is clearly a weak point and exactly what failed. Selfishly, I'm glad it worked out since i only had the darn thing a couple months and only used it once.
