Maybe and just depends on the lower receiver, and  if the bolt is ramped or not.

Hence the first colt 9mm large pin hammers looked like this in large pin, and where for non ramped bolts.

If bolt is ramped, then can get away with a non L top cut standard large pin hammer, since if you do get hammer wedging, then can always lower the top edge of hammer and even shorten the tail.


On the L cut top of firing pin contact, large pin hammer, crap shoot if the bottom of ramped bolt will lower the hammer down far enough for the disco to grab it or not.


So the pisser, colt never produced a .170 large pin FCG hammer with tail that did not have a Top L cut, and produced the large pin FCG with 9mm hammer show in the first photo for the non ramped 9mm bolt rifles. After the SP1 large pin receivers with protruding sear block, colt did go to standard pin receivers, so the colt 9mm FCG where offered in both large (.170") and standard (.154") size pin channels.

So SP1 type receiver that will be large pin channel size,

And if the receiver is not a colt, But some other brand and large pin, then the .154" channels were egged out, and the receiver pin channels were drilled to .170" to try to save the lower receiver.

Also to point out, the hammer down against the back of the un-ramped bolt at ignition, helps to hold the bolt forward longer on the blow back system.   So if you are using a ramped bolt, will need to increase either buffer mass, or recoil spring tension to make up for the ramped bolt coming back faster from less hammer tension against it at ignition, to keep the cycle unlock timing in check.  
The downside of the non ramped bolt, more brutal on the hammer pin since the un-ramped bolt does sling shot the hammer more on the way back.

To add, the SP1 receivers did have the large front take pin off set channel as well, so short of a SP1 upper receiver again on the lower, will need to use the off set adapter to add a mil spec upper to the SP1 lower receiver.

Colt SP1 lower (protruding sear block), so large .170" pin channel receiver from the factory, has the none mil spec upper front pivot channel that fits the SP1 uppers only, and buffer should have been the Colt 9mm SMG buffer weighing 5.47 oz factory as well.


And yes, the non-ramped 9mm bolt is Factory Colt correct for the rifle.
Also, should have had the Colt .170" semi auto 9mm FCG, which the hammer should have looked like the Colt modified no tail one.

So where the original colt .170 9mm FCG went, and why is does not have a 9mm SMG 2 piece buffer in it, mystery.

No worries, but  $45 for a spare 9mm .170" FCG (minus selector), would pick it up to have on hand since you have the SP1large pin lower receiver, and its hard to find the .170" fcg parts for the 9mm that someone does not want a arm and leg for to  start with.

IIRQ, the first link I posted with just the hammer alone, was $75.


Also, may want to upgrade to the KNS .170" reinforced pins, or at least pick up a few extra .170" pins.  
Even with the correct buffer in the rig and replacing the hammer and buffer spring every 4K, the 9mm non ramped bolt is going to be murder on the hammer pin, so its not if, but when it snaps a pin problem in itself.

Yes, even with the KNS reinforced pins,

Your still going to snap the hammer pin over time, but with it held in place via the side supports, the rig will still function as the side supports do hold the pin in place.

With standard pins, when the hammer pin snapped, the rifle will not longer function.  
And yes, known problem, and why the Military did not pick up the design for service use since the failure rate was too high, but went with the HK MP5 back then, and picked up limited numbers of the B&T APC 9mm sub compacts currently.

As for the rig, does have collectors value, and does not sound like the entire rig was burnt to the ground, so may or may not over paid for it in the first place.  The fact that is had a mis-match of parts, that someone that you should had picked up from the start, but at least now know what to look for if you go to buy another one.  As for mags, can be a shite show trying to find one that will work correctly, and why I just tend to go with Glock mag lowers for 9mm builds, since not hard to find OEM Glock 18 mags on the cheap that will run without problems from the start.  Plus, with a QC-10 lower, you get last round bolt hold open.
