It seems that black hills 77gr is unobtanium, what should I be looking for as a replacement?

My intended purpose is mk12 shooting out to a few hundred yards, but it may be nice to have for some other ARs

Any leads on deals out there, and approximate CPR?

I saw some pine valley 77gr show up on EE
I was considering hornady frontier 75gr or the TAP 75gr bthp but was wondering how they compare.

Ammo seek shows some S&B and IMI 77gr too, any good experiences with that?

I roll my own and prefer the nosler CC bullet over the sierras

I've had a positive experience with 77gr IMI out of a 20" 1:8T "HBAR" profile barrel, out to 800 easy.  also some hits at 1000, but on some of those 1,000yd shots, have no idea where it went, didn't see a dirt splash.  they were either visible hits, or who-knows-where.  could be the dust impact signature was too small, don't know.  I am not an expert marksman, just an enthusiastic plinker.

anyways, ordered 2 more cases.  might have to try that S&B 77gr also, or the PMC X-Tac, depending on price, availability.

I have had good results with 77 gr IMI out of 14.5 inch Colt SOCOM barrel, as well as the Frontier 75 gr. Farthest shot on steel with that barrel is 750 meters using the 75 gr Frontier ammo and 600 with the 77 gr IMI, and both rounds group at 1 inch or better at 100 meters. I've been wanting to try the Sellier & Bellot, but haven't seen it in stock for a while.

S&B 77gr is what we shoot in matches.

Very good stuff. We've shot it out of a 16" to 1000y with decent reliability.

Thanks, good to know as I also have a 14.5 like that. Any idea what the difference is between the frontier and tap?

It’s been said but IMI RazorCore is best factory out of my guns.  S&B works pretty well, but mainly I hand load them with sierra bullets.

So not use Hornady frontier unless you don’t like your gun in 1 piece.

I’ve shot 77gr IMI and it was good, I’ve shot 75gr frontier and it was about same. I like the Hornady black 75gr bthp better it groups better out of my noveske.

A vote of confidence for IMI 77 grain razorcore. It shoots very well out of the majority of my guns, ranging from 10.3 to 18 inch.

It's good stuff. I also prefer their M193 for general range/plinking ammo.

IMI is good to go. Loaded warm so I'd recommend checking the brass after the first few rounds to make sure everything is above board.

I've hand loaded the 75gr Hornady bullets and wasn't able to squeeze quite as much accuracy out of them, but YMMV.

IMI is consistently sub moa for me. If you’re only shooting 5 shot groups with a quality barrel you may rarely see over MOA

Also it’s currently the cheapest match ammo available. Huge plus

If you're only shooting out to a few hundred yards, the heavies aren't really necessary.   You could probably get by just fine, and maybe even a little better with a lighter flat base bullet.  Inside 400 yards, I get better results with lighter stuff.

How much is the IMI running these days and where are you finding it?

I stocked up on both 77gr IMO and Frontier 75gr BTHP back in the day.

Midway has both right now.

This is good advice. The Hornady 55gr SP or the ADI 55gr Blitzkings are great for shorter range shooting.

My 16"er loves it some IMI Razorcore.

Both 69gr and 77gr.

Numerous cases of Black Hills Ammo -77 grain SMK- are available on the popular broker site.

Barring that, I've had good luck with the IMI.
Not quite as good, just a little looser, than the BHA.
If you can find the Magtech, for me, it was a smidge better and cheaper.

IMI 77 on midway. I've been buying a few boxes here and there when they do free shipping which is fairly regular.

Callaway Ballistics is doing a MK262 Mod 0 (had no cannelure) load. I'm getting just 30 fps shy of the Rev 2 PVM stuff I reviewed awhile back. I am still waiting to check it's accuracy. Not sure if it's up on their site yet.

It's pretty much unobtanium now days, but MagTech used to offer a very decent 77gr SMK loading that was equal to, some rifles liked it better than IMI Razor Core. It was cheaper too.
The rumor was MagTech/CBC didn't want to pay Sierra for their Match Kings anymore...entirely possible Sierra tried to up the price. I used to purchase quite a bit of bulk ammo
online until this latest price surge, not to mention the fact that EVERYBODY is charging tax now. It's a big deal when your purchases are hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
That's when the EE comes in, at least our fellow Arfcommers aren't charging us tax.....yet!
Luckily I'm GTG, stacked almost everything I shoot DEEP.
If you come across any on the EE, BUY IT!

I have it shot pretty decent, just under an inch in groups at 100 yards.   Problem with the sig 77 grain is the price.   IMI is cheaper and groups slightly better.

The 77 grain IMI is great and I will say the 62 grain M-855 IMI shoots MOA out of my Colt LE6940 also
Great ammo I’ve been shooting for 30 years in 55, 62 and 77 grain
