So it seems that 7075 isn't a good alloy for welding(brittle weld cracking issues if i recall correctly).

The original 601's were 6061, which is a better welding alloy.

Where are people sourcing 6061 80% lowers for braceman to re-weld 601 lowers?

Is it a billet or forged lower, and will it have the appropriate dimensions to match a 601 magazine well?

Link?

To be honest, I would go directly to the person who is doing your work for you.  I suspect they know exactly what is best for them to use.

Otherwise, I searched “AR 80% 6061” if that helps.

Good Luck

I see what you mean about the 80% in 7075.

New Frontier Armory lists their G15 (looks to be an A2) as forged.  They specifically list forge from 6061.

You got me curious and I tried to call them, but it looks like you have to message them.

Below is copied right off of their (New Frontier) webpage.

Available Models:

G-15 (5.56 forged)

C-9 (9mm/.40 cal billet)

C-45 (.45/10mm billet)

C-6.8 (LWRC 6.8 mag billet)

G-4 (5.56 billet, Gen 2)

G-9mm (9mm billet, Gen 2)

G-10 (.308 billet, Gen 2)

G-5 (9mm MP5 mag billet, Gen 2)

Specifications:
Machined from 7075-T6 aircraft grade billet aluminum or 6061 forgings
