I’m building a deer rifle in 450 Thumper.  I’m using an 18” barrel and I hope to be shooting out to and around 200 yds.  Given the size of an Ohio Whitetail, I’ve been looking at a few low powered optics, 1-4 and 1-6 mainly.  Any experience with this round and range around here?

Leader so far:

Vortex Crossfire II at PA

I picked up the Athlon Talos BTR 1-4x24 for my blackout  I did a mini review on it here  https://www.ar15.com/forums/AR-15/Athlon-Talos-BTR-1-4x24-initial-review/18-725860/  I paid $149 at optics planet it for it

I put a 1-3x20 Weaver V3 on a 20" Bushmaster in .450, I have had no issues with it and would absolutely do it again.

I've had a 1-4, 1-6, 2.5-10 all trijicon accupoints. Now I have a Leupold vx6hd 2-12 with the cds dial and like it more than the trijicons. Great glass, CDs dials, and half the weight on the thumper. Hunting Ohio and Iowa if that makes a difference.

I would check with Vortex on the crossfire with 450.  I have been using a Burris Fullfield 2 2.5-7 on my 450 for about 7 yrs.  I really like it.  I mostly hunt at night and shoot with a weapon light at 2.5 power.

If you are shooting for 200yrds i would want atleast 7-9 magnification.

In low light with the small objective and lower level scope your light gathering and clarity are going to be limited.  I would spend some more and move up to the Viper line.

Pick a good 2x7 and your good to go.  Burris fullfield or redfield are good scopes under 200 bucks.  Both will be a big step above the Chinese made crossfire.

I agree with the 2x7 suggestions . I used a leupold vx-2 2x7x33 on my 458 socom for along time . nice light weight great in low light I have nothing bad to say about it . refield and burris are also good choices .
