This is my first build. Barrel is a BA Hanson 10.3 in a Aero upper. The barrel was a tight fit in the reciever. I'm using a SLR helix handguard. I torqued the barrel nut to spec. I've never noticed being able to see the barrel extension like this before. Is this normal?

Looks like if anything the port door was milled a bit much up front or it may have been an upper where the offsets were set a bit off center. Other than that looks fine to me (though someone else may have better eyes).

Shouldn't affect function. As long as the bolt locks properly in the extension, I wouldn't worry about it.

ETA: if you're worried about it, I'd get some go/no-go gauges

Thanks for the reply. The bolt does lock back properly. I removed one from another upper just to check. This build is no where near finished. I've just never noticed this on any others before. Yes I'll check around and see if anyone I know has a set of gauges.

That's what I thought. But I looked around on the web and couldn't really find any pictures of it. I'll check with gauges before the first test fire just to be sure.
