Can someone help me out and provide a link for this on SG ammo?
All I see is $499/900 and OOS. |

I'd love to see some barrier testing with this round, as that's all that is missing. It is very reasonably priced, performs well ballistically, is sealed (bullet and primer), loaded to reasonable 5.56 pressures, is a total metal jacket and clean burning (no exposed lead base) and OAL is short enough to be used even in 1-12 twist barrels. Performance through different mediums is the only X factor.
I wonder how it would perform in a test like below. Will penetration be similar to the marine MK318 62 grain OTM barrier round? ![]() Failed To Load Title |

From what Ive seen with Buffmans gel test of this is it appears that the mk318 core retains more weight than the Winchester. |

So, what's with this,"Designed for Range / Target use applications"? Is this a rejected lot or contract? |

So... is this ammo good to the point that I should stop buying Frontier 75gr for $7 a box and stack this deep instead? |

SG AMMO has it back in stock.
Tried this in a 14.5 BCM Socom, Colt Socom, Douglas barreled SPR, and a Scar 16 last weekend. Performed awesome in all. Groups hovered between 1 to 1.5 overall. It does seem a bit hot to me. There were swipes noticeable on the case head, the most prominent was with the SPR. The Scar had the least noticeable marks. Had one primer fall out of a case when I picked it up off the ground that was shot with the SPR. |

I don't really post. I have been here for awhile and learn from you folks. Just to drop a note, Sam at SG got this back into stock, but already today he is down to only 11 cases left. Thanks Buffman and Blain for the information on this round. Source of it? Well, as a Swedish rifle collector for many years now, I have at times received various ammunition from CG. In my own personal opinion, the crimping as well as sealant color does say CG to me. I previously bought some Swedish 5.56 a few years back. I seem to think it was 55gr? But, cases appear the same with that particular crimp. |

Sam lets the number go down to say 11 cases which makes folks think they better hurry and buy before its gone. What happens is it goes down to lets say 6 cases and he adds 9 more cases to inventory online and the number changes. What he really has total to sell is never shown, its a good tactic to move more ammo. |

But fair enough......what else would cause crimped primers to fall out and swipes on the case head? Soft brass? Poor/sloppy QC in manufacturing?.......... either way not a good sign for that shooter in his rifles....... |

Has anyone checked to see if this stuff is actually Boxer primed?
Should be pretty easy to see by shining a flashlight down an empty case to see if there is 1 or 2 flash holes at the bottom. The unique staking pattern suggests that this stuff is made by Carl Gustaf, and much of the 556 made by Carl Gustaf is actually Berdan primed (for example: https://www.sgammo.com/product/223-556mm-ammo/1000-round-can-556mm-62-grain-steel-core-ball-ammo-brass-case-swedish-made-ca) |

It does penetrate gel better than IMI 69 and 77 grain OTM, so it might do better through barriers as well. Out of the 10.5" and 16" I'm only seeing between 7- 11" of penetration with the "core" or the largest mass of the bullet with a few smaller fragments going a little deeper. This with a 3-4" neck. |

Does this compare to MK318 at all ? So, in a way it is similar to mk318 but with a longer neck, a little less core weight/penetration and probably not as barrier blind. Sort of a poor man's 318. I'm a huge fan of mk318, and have been stocking up on it for a while. I don't see this stuff as a replacement, but I can see it is a great compliment to stack deep. I would also imagine its POA/POI is very similar to 318 as well. |
| Wow that is pretty fast. Also pretty damn low ES. |

Any idea of what the frag threshold is? I’m trying to find a new round do stack deep in a new 11.5” build. Trying to find something accurate with about 300 yards worth of frag or expansion. Would like it to be faster too for a flatter flight trajectory. So let's say 2300fps is the threshold for decent expansion and let's say you're getting 2700fps at the muzzle. If the BC of the bullet is .3 (just a guess) you're only good out to about 150 yards. |

You might want to look into the Black Hills loading of Barnes 50gr TSX. It performs very well out of short barrels, and should have the velocity your looking for. I don't know how it performs at 300 yards but its a good bullet. https://www.ar15.com/ammo/project/Self_Defense_Ammo_FAQ/MOLON/Black%20Hills%205.56mm%2050gr%20TSX.htm Quoted:

I was weak. I had to pick some of this up because I knew I'd regret it if I didn't. Near M193 velocities with 62 grain ammo, that is MOA capable with a OTM bullet, sealed primers and bullets.... at near bulk ammo price? |

Ive put almost 600 rounds of this ammo through four of my rifles with excellent results. The ARs included a SPR, BCM 14.5, and two 16 inch matched barreled Recce type rifles. Each rifle was scoped. This ammo is very consistent with groups averaging between .7 MOA and 1.15 MOA at 100 yards. I also noted it didn't really throw fliers like some rounds do, just tight little clusters near point of aim. I like this much better than IMI 77gr Razor core and find it shoots like Black Hills match but much cheaper. I ordered another 2k today just to stash. |
