I have a setup in this configuration. I am running a LaRue Tactical 18" Stealth barrel (mid-length gas) with a BCM A5 Intermediate Buffer System and LANTAC E-BCG. It is extremely smooth and dependable.

Nice setup. The MFT Minimalist is so tight it feels like a fixed stock. So in a way you are getting the best of both worlds IMO.

H6 buffer which IIRC is six individual weights totalling the same nominal weight as an H3 buffer.

The Army uses 20" bbls w/ collapsible stocks now.

Or you can use a 9mm buffer and accomplish the same thing and it costs alot less.

Accomplish the same thing for LESS money?  This is the Army we're talking about here.  Taxpayer's money is FREE!

Unfortunately that's the way they see it!

Seriously, I've run a collapsible stock with a 20 inch upper and used a 9mm buffer. Works great.

I have kids who shoot all my guns so I have a collapsible stock on all my ARs.  I don't like them.  I would be happy with a simple A1 stock on nearly all my rifles except my SBR (which has the Ultra-Compact on it).

And by the time my kids are out of the house I'll have grand kids.  So, guess I am stuck with collapsible.

stupid question: Is it possible to buy A1 stocks today? I've never looked into it.

I like this idea. I don't have an eighteen incher with collapsable stock. But I do have a 20 inch rifle with collapsable stock. All/many of the benefits I like, in a slightly shorter package. I like  it. :)

Vltor A5 (system). Extension, spring, weight (5.3oz/A5H2), stock. Whole shebang.

Probably not needed. But wanted to try it.  That and I got it on sale for realitivly "cheap".

Old pic.

Thanks. It's changed a little since that pic. But it's still kinda based off the Canadian C7A2 rifles. I like it. Pretty much a dressed up Colt AR15A4.

I have long arms but never could get used to an a2 stock. I know that sounds backwards but a collapsible stock in the 3rd position out is perfect for me. So I run a vltor stock on my 18" AR. Going to try and A1 stock soon since the whole collapsible thing is too complicared for my taste. I like things nice and simple.

I have 18 inch rifle length. Like it a lot but would prefer to get a barrel that is at or under 2lbs. It is a little front heavy if you are doing a lot of shooting
