Quoted: I am wondering if this is based on the assembly tool. I found this exact issue to be a real problem with my own builds, concerning torquing to spec, or slightly over spec, using a Geissele reaction rod. The design is such that while the reaction rod holds the barrel at the extension, the upper receiver is free to rotate and press against the barrel pin under torque. The upper being aluminum against a steel pin, torquing can cause an indentation of the upper receiver at the threads. If I was not careful, my pinned front sight block was canted. I stopped using the reaction rod and switched to the Midwest Industries Upper Receiver Rod. This tool has a top bar which runs the length of the rod, so the full run of the inside of the upper receiver at the charging handle groove. It does not allow the upper receiver to rotate freely under torque, thus not allowing the barrel pin to indent or damage the aluminum threads of the upper reciever. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: If you commit to this, please please do something about QC in your barrel department. Its becoming common theme on Facebook and the interwebs to see a psa fsb barrel with either the fsb canted left (from behind), or the feed ramps misaligned (counter clockwise). I know its not popular to take up for big companies... I don't see the connection between making retro lowers and some QC issues with barrels made under their Value Brand. If you had some issues with their lowers that would make sense.
Being an industry price leader comes with its own set of challenges, from what I see they handle those challenges well. They will fix ANY issue that someone has... even pay shipping both ways. Since they do fix their issues when they pop up, I bet they are aware of problems. You will not see the correct ratio of success to failure stories on the internet. When you are running the numbers of parts at those low margins there will be QC issues. If they fix the issues as they pop up then what is left to gripe about? |

The production of ten thousand plus lowers per week is hard to fathom. I can’t imagine the amount of machine oil or milling bits they burn through daily (or the size of those “chip” bins). PSA taking care of customers was the exact reason I’ve had such a great experience getting to know some of the folks there. Not sure the responses or the post requesting attention to detail was a gripe, observation maybe. Most of us following this thread are very excited to see what PSA comes up with. I will agree their CS would be hard to beat. |

Stumbled upon this thread. Hope it goes through even if I have to spray a couple with Norrell's moly resin Colt Gray.

Like many here, I’m hoping that this will happen since I basically put a hold on several retro projects since these receivers would be far better than NoDak Spuds receivers due strictly to the planned markings.
I would not snooze on a filler receiver like a Nodak if you have a chance to buy one. You can always sell it.
Yeah, I bought several back before that last election to be on the safe. Just sitting on them for now.
If Biden gets too crazy with EOs, then I’ll build them all into rifles within hours and live with the “NoDak Spud LLC” engravings on a retro rifle. |

I was just specing out all the parts for an E2 build. This may be the solution depending on the timeline for them.
@PalmettoStateArmory, any updates by chance? Are we looking at sometime this year or more likely a Shot Show '22 announcement/availability? |

Josiah
Is will the new receivers have the H&R logo and address on the side of the receiver since Harrison and Richard wasn't original manufacturer of the M16 that would look really cool. Is also any updates |

This is a year long project to spin something like this up. This isnt just engraving a M4 lower... Anchor Harvey is giving 12 month lead times to large mfrs.
Relax... |
Tagging for interest, just got an M16A1 upper and I want to build out the lower "correctly"
Please!
Pretty please! Do not price these out of the everyday mans hands! Like every other cool ass project I have ever heard about! If the price is too high! I will be out! |
Got my stock, now I just need everything else for this project
EDIT.... I forgot this was already in the retro section... ya'll already know this For everyone else wanting to make an xm177, these had the old aluminum stocks with nylon coating. There are a couple places that have made these over the years, but Double Star recently bought up the leftovers from Essential Arms and is now making their own. Fist batch sold out and they said the next is still a few weeks out. Without buffer and spring With buffer and spring |

This is great news. I have bought several Palmetto lowers in the past, and have had good luck with them. I would definitely buy a couple of these, likely a GAU and an XM177. PSA gets a lot of crap, but they have done more to make ARs affordable than anyone, as well as producing some very good AKs. I'll be watching this thread with interest... even though I thought I was done building.

All,
What markings would you want on an M16A1 H&R Retro clone rifle barrel? Pictures would be awesome, but anything helps. Thanks! Josiah ETA - I was referring to the barrel and was not clear. Thanks! |

Don't remember how A1 barrels were marked (maybe Make, Caliber, Twist Rate and a C for Chrome Lined) Think ATF stated that barrels require min Marker and cartridge barrel is chambered for.

You know what I'd like to see barrel-wise? 14.5" complete pencil barrels with FSB and a choice of 1:7 or 1:12 twist to build 653s and 723s ...
I could not agree more about complete 14.5 pencil barrels, but also 10.0" pencil barrels as those are truly nonexistent. Just somebody making these at all would make me happy.

PSA, would it be possible for you to post a few prototype drawings of your proposed receiver markings? I’m sure I’m not the only one that would be interested in this.

Wooo! I'm definitely in for some. Maybe if this stuff sells well, it'll encourage more stuff like 607 stocks...
