Midwest Industries is proud to release the MI-SSK-12 KeyMod Hand Guard The MI-SSK-12 weighs 8.5oz WITH the barrel nut, actual length is 12.625", OD is 1.5", ID is 1.3". It has 5 built in QD anti-rotation sling sockets, two on each side and one on the bottom front There are 12 KeyMod slots on the sides and bottom of the hand guard. Will be available in 12" and 15" lengths. Expected to be available in 3-4 weeks. Retail pricing will be $209.95 for the 12" MI-SSK.

Does this use a standard or proprietary barrel nut? Secondly, and most important; will this work with a standard 16" Dissipator set-up, mid length gas block, but with the standard front sight?
FWIW, I only use MI rail systems, and this one is important to me. Thanks. |

The only drawback is the lengths they come in. Midlength gas barrels are quite popular, yet suitable MI FF handguards are either 9" long which ends behind a lo-pro gas block, 10" long which only partially covers the GB, or 12" long with completely swallows it. What's missing is a handguard approximately 10.65" long that just covers a middy GB for optimum esthetics. The other thin handguard makers (e.g., Noveske and Wilson Combat) provide this "just right"-for-middy length, I suggest MI do the same. - CW |

Because of the price point, but more so the use of the factory barrel nut, I may actually give it a shot if I can attach all my current accessories. I love the idea of being able to switch back and forth between this and my C4 rail by just changing a few screws. It would be fantastic if some of these companies came up with a QD rail for the standard barrel nut. Change you rail load out with the flip of a switch would be stellar. |
Love the elongated circular vents on these vice the more antiquated early 2000s plain 'ol circular vents. Plus these long vents will do much better to show off my barrel fluting under the handguard than circles. I imagine aids in keeping light as well. Sign me up for a 15 incher!
