have shot over a thousand rounds of .45acp in my Sigp220 from the white boxes and never had a problem. Just bought 180 rounds (55gr FMJ) today to put through my RRA Elite 16" chrome lined barrel next weekened with my brother and his RRA 16" weapon. I buy the cheap Winchester or Wolf for plinking and target shooting....dont care if it groups 2moa or less. It is for fun. When sighting in the weapon it will be with match or varmint rounds....but the white box is great for range work and easy cleanup. I find S&B much dirtier... |

I was retuning from shooting and stopped into one of our Walmarts to pick up some of this ammo since it shot extremely well in my 16inch bushy. (1 1/4 to 1 3/4 5 shot groups.) The clerk said they only had a few and it had been DELETED. I got all he had and called several other stores which were out of it. I hate to lose this ammo since its the made in Israel winchester and shot better than any other ammo in my 16 inch gun. Anyone else here anything about this? I was wondering if maybe Winchester was going to start making it again like the Q3131? I would imagine it won't shoot as well based on current and past experience with Winchester 223. JRandyH |
| I have used several hundred rounds of WWB through my mini-14. It all went bang and it shot well at 50 and 100 yards. Or at least as good as I could hold the gun still. (newbie) I bought all I could find when I saw the price was going up to 9.98 from 7.73. Still have over 1500 rounds left. |

Winchester 55 grain pointed soft point (USA223RF) sold in 50 rd packs ... no FTF, FTE. Best group @ 100yds was 1.75", @ 200 yds was 1.875". Good buy for average-to good groups with a reasonable cost. Winchester 55 grain pointed soft pont (X223R) sold in 20 rd packs ... no FTF, FTE. Best group @100 yds was 2.25". No testing performed @200 yds. my 2 cents ... |
| I experienced a few minor problems with the "Super X" 45gr jacketed hollow point. A few feeding problems in My Bushmaster 20" and a few rounds didn't pass visual inspection due to deeply seated bullets. I only had 2 50rd boxes and out of that, I rejected 3 rounds and had 2 FTFs. The FTFs only happened with full mags. I would buy this ammo again if the price is right but I would prefer other brands at the same price. |

After 1,000 rounds of the Winchester 55-gr. value packs made in Israel (USA223R1VP), there have been zero problems (minus round #1 that failed to fully eject on a brand new AR's first shot). Question: How does this Wally World stuff compare in fragmentation tests to other 223 ammo? |

Shot about 400rds at range earlier today USA223R1 55gr FMJ. Excellent stuff everything fed, fired, and consistant nice groups. Zeroed my irons and Eotech with this stuff. Using Eotech, seemed I was getting groups of less than an inch at 25m, 1-1.5" at 50m, and within 3" at 100m benchrested at all ranges. I zeroed the Eotech at 50m and with that zero averaged about 2.5" high at 100m (which I expected). Wish I had a chrono to check velocity out of my 14.5" barrel. I was shooting an M4gery RRA build (all RRA parts). 14.5" barrel w/ perm. attached Phantom 5C2, 1/9 chrome lined. |
| With USA223R1 I get apx. 2820 FPS out of my Bushmaster M4 14.5" barrel. This is 10 feet from the muzzle with a Chrony F1. Winchester reports the muzzle velocity for this round at 3240. I am guessing this is with a 20 inch barrel. The Q3131A is reported at 3270, so the .223 is 30FPS slower than the 5.56. That is a very small amount so I think you can use these two rounds interchangably with a 25 meter zero. I am going shopping tommorow so I will try and find a box of the 5.56 and see if it will group with the .223. |
If you can find the fine print the USA223R1 is listed from a 24" barrel. The Q3131[A] is listed from a 20" barrel. So there's more difference than the published numbers would indicate. In my 16" RRA the USA223R1 was 2940fps and the Q3131A was 3168fps, a 228fps difference. So they'll definitely track differently at longer ranges. But within "battlesight" distances they're probably close enough for plinking size targets. |

I presume they use 24" for the ".223" to be typical of a bolt-action and consistent with their other rifle calibers. The 20" for the "5.56" is a special case to match the M193 specs and be typical of M16/AR-15 rifles, the only ones that commonly have a chamber for that caliber. The external dimensions of the .223 and 5.56 are the same, so unless you need the higher velocity of the 5.56 and crimped primers and sealant (desirable for SHTF ammo) and/or want to maintain the same level of flash & recoil for training there's not really any reason to match the 5.56 chamber with 5.56 ammo. Personally I stick with the .223 for most of my shooting--easier on the barrel (less powder) and usually cheaper and easier to find--even though I have 5.56 chambers on all of my rifles. |

I've had really good results with Winchester 55 FMJ for range and plinking use. The brass is very good for reloading. I'm always glad to get this brass from friends for my handloads. None of my friends or I have had any problems with it. I am disappointed that it is no longer available at Walmart but believe our soldiers need it more than we do. It has consistently chronographed out of my 16" Bushmaster at an average of 2980 fps in 85+ degree weather, just slightly faster than American Eagle in my rifle. I duplicated its average velocity to develop my .223 handloads. Good stuff. |

I've been shooting the Winchester .223 55 grain 40 rd Walmart value packs for a while now, and it has never had a problem...goes bang every time. When I first got my Bushmaster M4A2 14.5 inch....I was hitting Pepsi cans at 100 yards right out of the box with iron sights. This is the only ammo my Bushmaster has ever had until recently when I recently picked up a case of Winchester Q3131. Good stuff! |

archving? that's what happens when you get a ricochet isn't it? How about rubbing the old crystal ball and taking a wild guess on when if ever we might see a return to the good old days af relatively nicely priced WWB in .223? All I can say it was more accurate than I could usually shoot. |
