I hear that, you almost always have to go looking for someone or to get someone paged and even then once you find someone, they never have the key to the ammo case. But I guess that is the price for good inexpensive ammo. head.gif hair.gif |

1) Wally World 40 round econopack 2) Colt Sporter 20" bbl 3) 1500 rounds +/- Never had any problems with this ammo - occasionally use it because it is relatively inexpensive and convenient to grab on the way to do some plinking... ETA - have always used the 55 gr version... |

1.1000-1300 of USA223R1 50 packs 55gr FMJ NO PROBLEMS, NICE GROUPS Just can't find it localy anymore,:(. 2.600-800 of USA223R1VP 40 packs 55fr FMJ NO PROBLEMS, NICE GROUPS, NOT AS CONSISTENT AS USA223R1 Now cheaper at WallyWorld vs. Q3131a @ gun range. RRA post-ban M4 all of 1. about half of 2. Bushmaster post-ban M4 half of 2. In my opinion this is atleast the most consistent ammo I've used. I have had no failures due to ammo with it, 2 of 20 mags don't like my rifles. |
I have not cleaned the RRA set up. At about 1400 or so, of only this ammo, there is ~"*NO*"~ dirt. I had put the bolt back in it earlier tonight and was suprised at how clean it was. I know this is not the best practice, but we'll see. |
| ive burned up over 200rnds of wally 40rd value pack winchester usa223r1, as a matter of fact i got invited to go to the range tomorrow and its late tonight so i decided to go get some more of it. bought 4 boxes of it. but i would much rather have some m193 or m855 but when your broke your broke. ive burned up my other stash of the good stuff so im stuck with weak wally loads till i get the funds to order another 1000 rnds of the good stuff. |
Change the chormoly barrel to just a chrome chamber colt 20" barrel and my story is the same. |
I love the winchester stuff its accurate...Also pmc shoots well in my ar's...But for going to the range with alot of bullets on mind ...I bring wolf barnul or silver bear. I have over 2000 rounds of winchester ammo I dont shoot at all..Just for safe sake the winchester stuff is sweet.Love it..But don't take it to the range often because of price.. Matter of fact I have over a thousand rounds for all of them..But I keep my wincester stuff loaded and ready lol.. I perfer winchester ..There are so many companies out there for ammo.My range ammo consist of above my keeper ammo is black hill or winchester period.But all ammo with a good ar 15 should function well.. Some have their faults..

Winchester USA223R1, 40 and 50 round boxes, lot # unknown. Chrono'ed about 3050 - 3100 from a 20" Colt A1 1/12 twist. Three of us used this ammo for the Carbine 1 class at FIRE Institute. Zero ammo related failures, from a Bushmaster barrel/DPMS A2 lower, Bushy SL upper/Bushy CAR type lower, and a tricked out Bushy 14.5" M4. VERY clean ammo, and one of us was able to get a one hole group at 25 yds, using a Trijicon reflex. The Superlight upper shot the largest group, mainly b/c it was A2 iron sights, no optics. This group was a perfect cloverleaf well under 1". As stated, zero ammo failures in over 1500 rounds fired over a 3 day course. The only factory 'ball' ammo that we have found more accurate is S&B SS109/M855. Ops |
If your rifle can't handle Winchester WB without malfunctioning...maybe you should think about looking for another rifle. |
Winchester FMJ 7.62x39 and Super-X 7.62x39, as well as Winchester Q313A and 45gr Varmint .223 rounds... ALL of the brass was clean and polished, no signs of corrosion even in crappy unsealed storage containers. No complaints about accuracy or consistency here. |
I have fired a few hundred rounds out of an M4ger(Bushy) and a Bushy 20" HBAR. No ftf's, no problems whatsoever! Matter of fact, it is the most accurate ammo I have tried in my M4gery! I will definitely buy more, especially if the wife makes the trip to WalMart, so I don't have to deal with the hassle!!  Huntr |
Its funny that I saw this tonight, because last night I waited for 5mins (no joke, timed it) to be transfered to the Sporting Goods desk, guy answered the phone and I really could not understand his english, he moved the phone to someone else, I asked them how much there Winchester .223 value packs were, he had to double check the name, caliber twice.  I go to walmart 20 mins later, and wait another 5 mins for the guy to come back to the desk. If walmart would realize that the WWB ammo is really cheap for us plinkers/range jockies, they would stock up and allow the big boys to go and buy cases at a time..  |

Has anyone done any fragmentation testing with the Winchester/Wal Mart White Box 40 round packs [USA223R1VP]? I bet its the same projectile as Q3131A. Also, has anyone compared the Winchester White box to the IMI that Wideners is carrying [IMI223A]? I bet its the same stuff. Primers are sealed necks don't seem to be, etc. |

I have purchased around 500-700 rounds of the winchester 55gr FMJ 40 round value pack from Wallie World ($7.50/box), every box was made in Israel, there maybe same boxes made in USA but im not sure. I havent had any problems yet, and the primers on the rounds are sealed, but havent checked to see if the bullet is sealed also. great rounds for the money IMO. I run Win White box thru several uppers without problems. Currently, I'm using a 1:8 SPR bbl, with jp comp. Bushmaster upper. The time that I've shot for groups, this has been pretty good stuff for me (an average shot, at best). Held a bit better group than PMC, new wolf, old wolf. |
| Currently I'm shooting some of the USA223R3 (62gr FMJ), and it does extremely well in my midlength Cavarly Arms rifle. The Armalite upper (20") likes it ok. I have also run it in a 1:7 20" DPMS barrel, but that barrel doesn't particularly shoot anything better than another loading. So far I've gone through about 500 rounds of the case, and will buy some more. |

1) Winchester .223 55gr WalMart Value-Packs (USA223R1VP) 2) Essential Arms J-15 lower with Bushmaster 16" M-4 profile barreled upper. 3) 400 rds. Used this ammo in a Defensive Rifle class at SIGArms Academy. No failures experienced. Accuracy was excellent, all rounds went BANG when the trigger was pulled, and all empties ejected properly. Definitely buying many more of these. Tony |

Wilson 16" R4 barrel cut to 14.5" with Phatom permanently attached. CMT upper and lower. Winchester USA223R1 value packs from Wal-Mart. No malfunctions noted on 600 rounds fired. Seems hotter than Wolf, but not as hot as 5.56 loadings. Accuracy is decent. While more expensive than Wolf, I like it better because I can use the brass to reload. |

Shot USA223R1 out of homebrew M4gery Bushie 1/9 barrel. It worked flawlessly. Have not tired in anything else, but have no reason to believe it would be any different. Good stuff. Also noticed it has sealant on the primer pocket. I'm curious as to whether it has sealant on the projectile as well. |
| Voted " I have not had any problems with this ammunition " fired couple hundred rds. this weekend out of a 16" cmmg upper w/ a dpms lower and had one FTF one of the case necks was damaged bad, it (just the one rd.) looked like some of the rds. in bulk packed m193. Would buy more if found for the right price.-Todd |
| I've put about 200 rounds of the 55 grain .223 through my Rock River 16" Varmiter without incident. I've also put about 80 rounds of the 45 grain hollow points though with no problem. They seemed to do really well at 50 yards in the 1:8 barrel which kind of suprised me. |
Yeah, I have the same rifle, in a 1X9 twist(go figure)and it certainly finds this rifle's happy place. Same grouping results. I use a 68gr. BTHP for match that does as well, but out to 300 yds. The 45's kinda wander at that distance. Great stuff. |
Wally World 40-rd packs in my new midlength almost exclusively. There have been a couple short strokes, which I attribute to tight RRA parts and holding the rifle too loosely. That is not to be interpreted as bumpfiring from the shoulder, of course.  For the price, it's been very accurate through my chrome-lined 1:9 16" midlength. Very dirty, however. My bolt & carrier are filthy after half a case of the stuff. |

First outing with new AR (first AR type weapon since the ARMY) Winchester White Box 20 rd X 2 J & T Distributing barrel and unknown upper (bought it used ya see) Began the range session with the intention on zeroing the scope, after the first 8-9rds, I was having too much fun to stop and adjust the scope so I just started blasting away. I still landed all shots in a 4 sq inch area (100 yd). No FTFeed or a FTFire. Quite pleased with the overall acuracy, but I will get better ammo for further scope zeroing. hug.gif |
Sounds like you have gun issues. I have had great success with it. It comes to 210.00 for 1000 rounds and shoots great.

Yep. USA223R1VP 40-round packs from WM chrono ~2940-2980fps in my 16" RRA.
The short-stroke could be a light round, but it could also be the tight rifle and/or a not quite sealed yet gas system. The FTFeed was probably the magazine. |
SO far The 40 value pak w. 45gr HP is the most accurate round in my rifle. But at Walmart it is $15/ box and a store I found sells it for $12.50. I thought nobody beat wallyworld for price. But this is in ASSachusetts, home of Johnny K. & Teddy K. I have a RRA w/ 24" 1x12 Kreiger SuperMatch barrel. |
| Shot sixty rounds of the WWB 40 round box yesterday out of my new Stag M4gery. There were no FTF, FTE, or any other malfunctions. I don't know about velocities since I don't have a chrono, neither did I test the ammo for accuracy. I used this ammo to zero my BUIS and my EOTech, as the rifle had never been shot before. I was pleased with the ammo mainly for the fact that there were no problems with my new Stag. I'll be buying more of this ammo in the future. |
