The sticker peels off easy.  These aren't as nice as the first 10 .50 cal cans I got.  They look like they were made by a different manufacturer.  I only got 2 this time along with 4 .50 cal -10" tall and 4 S.A.W. Box.  These looked better.

For some reason they felt flimsy to me compared to some other cans I have.  Anyone else notice it ????

They do feel flimsier compared to the first ones I got.  I don't believe they are made by the same manufacturer as the first ones.  The 10" tall .50 cal cans will hold 22 Pmags and a Lula.

Im sitting on a gold mine here one of the hardware stores in town gets a bunch of army surplus gear including ammo cans they have about 30 feet of shelf filled with nice ammo cans stacked 5 high for 3 bucks a piece. Some rust on them but the insides are flawless.

Pretty sure they just took a random can and shot a pic of it and put it up on the site. Most guys have been buying the 50cal cans.

A week or so ago I received my order of 8 `30s & 4 `50s. The 50s are in pristine shape but the 30s......welllllllllll. Not only very dirty but some outside spots of rust as well (interiors are rust free). I spent about an hour going over all of them with damp towels to clean the dirt off, then gave the exteriors a WD40 rub down (just like using Armorall on your car's interior, WD40 really makes the cans look sharp).

Overall I'm happy about the quality (especially now that they're cleaned up), and I felt the price was great & the shipping more than fair. But shit, I'm already down to one empty one left!

I still think that the best way to buy ammo cans is local. The only time I have ever mail ordered ammo cans is when Cabela's had them clearanced for about $4 shipped (gotta love shipping based on dollar amount, not size/weight). The cans ended up being in not that great of shape, but that's a whole other story.

Anyway, I was at a gun show a month ago and found a guy with a couple pallets of .50 cans. The cans were $3.50 each hand picked. I bought a dozen.

Sorry to hi-jack, but shipping is almost always outrageous for ammo cans. You guys should check your local military/gun shows.  You might actually find a decent deal among the beanie babies and turkey jerky.

I've purchased 5 .50s recently from Ammo To Go (currently $4.39/ea. or $15.95/4) and they've all been in good shape. They are the new style, though, so a little different from what most of you guys are used to.

Yellow stenciling on left has been replaced by white stick on label on the right and the latch handle is lightened; same size, though.  The changes are not a big deal.

Widener's is now giving away desiccant packs with each ammo can in their 9 packs of both 30's and 50's. Get nine cans, get 9 desi packs sealed in a plastic bag to preserve them until needed. Also, the quality of the cans is great. $39.42 for 9 50's. Being in Tennessee, you could save money on shipping depending where you are.

Out of the 9 cans I got from Wideners last week (grade A) 7 of them were rusted inside (moisture of some kind), 4 of them had standing water and 2 had actual holes rusted out in the corners.  These were the worst cans I have ever seen.  I am calling them to see what they can do as it could have been a mistake. I seriously doubt they open all the cans and it appeared they had been stacked up for awhile as they all had rust spots on the top and bottom corners.  Every can was rusted somewhere.

Would you put your ammo in one of these cans?

I called Wideners and they are sending some other ammo cans out and letting me keep these rusted ones.  I will just use these for nuts and bolts or car junk, maybe clean them up and keep mags in them or something.  Wideners gets an A+ for customer service, hopefully these cans are better.

Yea, I believe it was MajorAR that turned me onto them about a year ago. They are good people to deal with and the shipping was fair. The cans I received were all in very good shape. Looked close to new with good seals.

Before I forget, "Thanks again Major!"

For those out west, you can get a better deal here.

west.loadup.com/military/surplus/1171.html?id=58RYsmo7

I ordered their 6-pack of cans, and it was

SUBTOTAL $29.88 (for the cans)
SALES TAX $2.17
SHIPPING  $12.83
TOTAL       $44.88

That's $12 shipping from SoCal to the SF Bay Area.

You have to order cans locally because the shipping will kill you if you don't.

I ordered 5  50 cal. ammo cans from ArmyGear.net They were the unused-near new ones ($4.49 each).  When i got them today 4 of them were perfect but one was dented and had some rust on it. I gave them a call and they said they would ship out another one today to replace the dented one and to just keep that one. Now that is what i call Excellent Customer Service !!!    I now know where to get my Ammo Cans.
