For ordering, do we know how many they have made/available immediately?

I ordered 3 just now.

Thanks!!!!

Unfortunatly, that info was not shared with me.  Although, Arne did say that they had some at the show and he is bringing at least one back to Houston.  Tim will get to use it next time out, and can report on its finish and function.

Still sitting on the fence but a Sabre Defence 6.5 Grendel, that sounds interesting.  And actually like the lower receiver markings.  Would prefer a middy 16" from ArmaLite though.  Because it will run better with a extra couple of inches in the gas tube, and I like the Colonel.

Looks like my hunting rifle/AR-10 is getting closer to being retired.  So, what is the trajectory of a 130 grain Swift at 2,425 fps?

Not related to hunting, but another past time.  What is the cylclic rate of these Sabre Defence uppers?  And with what buffer?  Any special requirments with extractor spring/buffers on full auto?

I think there would be something wrong with retiring the AR-10 and buying a Sabre product.  But, now if we could get 6.5 Grendels from ArmaLite, then I would not have problem looking Mark Westrom straight in the eye next time I saw him.

Yeah, I'm really waiting for Armalite, but I might get one of the Alexander Arms Tacticals

There is a chart we have gathered alot of the bullet and load combo's for the 6.5.  According to the  ballistic calculator, That bullet your asking should be 46 MOA to 1k. Vs the 48 for a 6.8 SPC and 45 for 77grn 5.56 BHM.  Also Roughly 44 MOA for 168 FGMM, and about 48 for 175 FGMM. With more velocity on the lighter loads with equaly high BC, alot of the Grendel rounds are sub 40 MOA to the 1k.

The chart is here:

Better run your calculations again....

The below calc shows 64 MOA drop @ 1000 with a 115SMK at 2500 fps with a 300 yard zero.

It also show 37 MOA drop @1000 with the 130 Swift at 2425 fps and a 300 yard zero.

Where did you get your numbers??????

What are the prices? More importantly, have they come down at all? I want a Grendel in a *bad* way, but when they first came out they were pricey.

The price isnt bad consider the match barrel.

WalkerTexasRanger, He asked about the Barnes 130 grn at 2425.

The specs on the bullet: .479 BC. Which gives me 46 MOA with a 100 yard zero.  Which is the only bullet he asked about?

The cost of the Grendel has dropped! I guess you didnt read this thread, which talked about that and other offerings.

Try the calc I posted and see what you come up with for the 6.8.

I did. I saw a 600 price. If I remember they were around 800 or a touch more "back in the day".
Does the 600 model have the match barrel still?

No, if you want a Match barrel you'll need to get the Hunter which is less $$$ or the 16" from CSS, but his upper cost more than what your wanting to spend due to the components.

Yep, CSS uppers are all match barrel stuff. They are more of the competition quality to reap the benefit of the ammo potential. I believe there is a few lower cost mil looking alternatives to come out right after the Shot Show.

Price for an upper is $580 in either flavor (14.5 or 16 inch)

What steel is used in the barrel? Are full auto carriers available or will a 5.56 carrier work?

Thanks,
Bob

I'm pretty sure the price on his site is for the upper only. Walker Texas Ranger was getting sub MOA at 200 yards off a sandbag.

You must be right.  I swear I remember reading something about an optional trigger earlier, which confused me.

Just for clarification, there are now 2 16" models available.

The GCS 16 - upper only - $1195 starting price.  Loather match stainless barrel, Briley carbon fiber FF tube etc.

Then there is the "Tactical 16" and Tactical 14.5" - uppers only - $580.  Chrome moly chrome lined barrel, clamshell handguards, etc.

Both the 16"s are midlength gas systems and the 14.5 is a carbine system.

All three models come complete with B/BC/CH and 1 magazine.

I had noted earlier that shipping on the Tactical models would start next week, but Arne posted over at 65Grendel that it might be 6 weeks as he has over 100 on order.  Sorry for the misstatement.

You have 100 "Tacticals" on order???

What is the lead time on a 14.5"?

Thanks.

Whew....6 weeks??  Maybe I'll wait a bit before plunking down the money -- let Arne get caught up and maybe let Armalite get in the game.

I'd be interested in a 14.5in upper and maybe an accurized upper at a later date.     Will go for dies as well so I can make use of any brass I can get my hands on.

Question, is the Wolf 6.5Grendel going to be reloadable?    Would be nice to supplement the stash of decently loaded and expensive Lapua brass with cheapie Wolf that I wouldn't feel bad if I missed picking up 2-3 of them after a range visit.

Hey... if you get some of the Creative products 6.5 magazines, could you also test them with 6.8 SPC if you have the chance?  Creative says they work with both.   Thanks.

do we have to get specific mags for the grendel or will existing ar mags work.  I understand that with the 6.8 the existing ar mags will function but not optimally.

Just wondering considering on building either a grendel or 6.8 upper.

You will need caliber specific mags for either cartridge.   However, it has been reported that the new Creative Products 6.5 Grendel hi cap mags will also work with the 6.8....
