I have a new unfinished set of handguards for my Yugo underfolder. What would be the correct way to finish them to be as close to original as I can get?

Sweat, diesel, kebab grease, and more sweat.

I used tung oil on some Balkan take-offs on my M70 and it looks really nice. It just takes a while to dry.

Boiled linseed oil (BLO) would be most accurate although Tung oil would do a good job too.

My original Yugoslavia civil war hand guards on my M70AB2 appear to be treated with lots of dirt, sweat, blood, some sort of oil, probably from a soldiers hair/body. The rifle has been well used, you can tell that regular cleaning/maintenance was not a priority during its lifetime. But it is still a very strong rifle that has many more decades of abuse in it.
