I have an opportunity at a Vector RPD, unfired/100% condition, for a very good price.

I don't know anything about Vector, and I'm still learning about the RPD rifle.

Is Vector a decent manufacturer?

The gun is beautiful in terms of fit and finish, great wood, just sexy all around.

If anyone can enlighten me about the Vector RPD, I would be very thankful.

Well made gun, goes bang, interesting historical remnant of the 1950's.

Vector made good stuff and really was the only people that tried to improve on the basic striker design a lot of people copied.
The biggest issue with the RPD / semi striker conversion was the opposing spring forces for the bolt and the striker working against each other.

Vector at some point made custom length rear stocks for their RPD's that allowed them to help dial in the spring rates for better function.
This is from memory and what I have read years back when they were building them.

If you have a Vector gun with the modified buttstock a standard RPD stock supposedly will not fit.
