SKS Picture Thread (Page 9 of 12)

I have a few more SKSs than this but the only pics I have are of my russian "beater"; not to be confused with my 1965 vintage chinese beater which I truly abuse with inordinate amounts of ammo and being tossed in the back truck seat constantly. I once dragged it in muddy clay and water just to see (I like the rifle but its got external pits and dings upon dings on the wood so it cant get any worse) if I could get it to malfunction. I shook the barrel clear and it went off every time. I was quite impressed with the thing, it may be archaic but damn it works!
Somehow the wife has decided this particular one should be hers

Have had this Yugo for a few years. Had changed stocks and mounted a NcStar rail with scope. What junk. It would never hold zero, so it ended up in the back of the closet. After surfing through these pictures yesterday, I had the urge to get her back in shape. Much better.

I just got this Yugoslavian 59/66 a couple of days ago. It has all matching parts and was covered in a very heavy coating of cosmoline. This carbine was imported by Cherry's and from the G-181*** serial number, it appears that it was manufactured in 1970. I took it out to the range yesterday and was ringing the 200 yard steel plate off the bench with no problems....... !

My dad gave me this Norinco when I turned 15 about 10 years ago... He paid $60 for it in 1999. I nearly ruined it when I first got in to modifying guns but I quickly came to my senses and saved it somewhat... Today I have a rifle that still looks fairly traditional but has a little personal flair. Mods include a Kivaari trigger, drop-free and recessed bolt mods, 8:4 chamber polish, Tech Sights, no bayo lug and opened front sight hood, modified magazine well, Tapco mags and extended mag release paddle, blued bolt carrier, Ram-Line upper handguard, and a Choate muzzle brake. The sling is a $6 ChiCom dyed black.
It shoots 1-1/4" groups at 50 yards with Golden Tiger. It eats everything I feed it, including the 123-gr. hollow points and 154-gr. soft points that it choked on in the past, and I haven't had any issues with the Crapco 20-round mags so I haven't seen the need to put the original back in.

Someone on another board asked people to post photos of their "Zombie Survival Kit", so here's what I came up with. My '51 refurbed Tula, a field machete with the Gaudiest Sheath On Earth my sister brought back from Honduras, and a bottle of Ola Dubh special 16 year reserve (it's a very dark, strong porter that's been aged in Highland Park scotch casks for a good long while - whisky beer, basically...).
The SKS runs like a champ and is my favorite rifle currently. |

Acquired these two in the last week, one on gunbroker and one at a local shop. Top one I think is a Cowboy Companion. The bottom one is a Briklee Hunter.

Tapco operating rod Us made gas piston Us made hammer and trigger (murrays) Kivaari match trigger job Ambidextrous safety Us made cheese grater hand guard Hogue hand all Albanian bolt carrier Spring loaded firing pin (murrays) Tapco short fore grip Tapco cage style brake (yes the barrel is threaded) Extra bolt head spaced to gun. Mac's Shootin Irons KG Gunkote over Parkerized base (charcoal gray and black) For all the purists I still have all the original parts. Never fear. Including the wood stock and hand guard.

The one pictured is a 1942 Tula (the pic is of all my Tula arsenal milsurps). I also have a 1941 Ishevsk SVT-40 and a 1943 Ishevsk Mosin-Nagant. I really want to find a Kovrov SVT to round out the collection, so I have an SVT from all 3 arsenals. The SVT's are dirt cheap up here, around $300. They go for about the same as a Garand in the States, from what I've heard. |
