Picked up my KP9 last night that I order through Atlantic Firearms. When inserting a mag, I have to slam the bottom of the mag very hard with the palm of my hand in order for the mag to lock in place. Is this normal? Should it get loose up over time? Or should I contact K-USA. I got several extra mags and they are all the same.  I plan on SBRing the gun and want to make sure there are no issues before doing the form 1.

I just picked one up as well but haven't had a chance to play with it. What if you download it by a couple rounds? I know an empty mag goes in effortlessly.

You should immediately grab a dremel and open up
The mag catch hole to twice as big, then belts sand each side of the magazine

I have not inserted a loaded mag. If I don't slam the mag hard it won't lock in place and just falls out. It's not that the mags are tight - the mag catch is not locking in place.

Mine insert with little pressure with a nice audible click upon lock up. Maybe take a little off the locking tab of the mags with a file? I bet a couple swipes would do it.

Id send it back before I thought about messing with the mag catch.

Yeah, that's was just some stupid GD comment showing up in the tech forums. I'll hit the bottom of the mag locking tab a few times with a file to see if it helps - otherwise I will send it to be fixed.

It was meant to humorously say exactly what not to do.

Don't worry buddy, you made me smirk.

Probably tight mag springs since it's new.

Empty mag probably goes easy peasy.

No "tight mag spring" or "easy peasy" on an empty mag......  going back to K-USA to have the mag release fixed/replaced as it sits a little high not allowing any mag to fulling lock in place without having to really slam the mag in place.

I hope you are attempting this with the bolt locked to the rear

Isnt a problem anymore.

I have the same issue. Unless I give the mag a good bump with the palm it does not lock into place.

Finally got around to contacting K USA concerning my mag latch / mag issues. Excellent customer service, sent me a RMA # and a form to complete. Dropped the pistol off at FedEx and had it back exactly one week later. Mags snap in place now without issue.

Return document stated " mag latch and top cover replaced" I wonder why the top cover was replaced?
