Me too.  Mine started life out as a sissy thumbhole slant back.

I would have bought one in that last run if it werent for the slant cut.

That is nice! I’m not familiar with the M77 you have, I was thinking this was a Ruger thread!

What caliber is it?  Kinda like a RPK?

What's seen here is somewhat of a DMR the Serbs make in 762Nato.  Think M76 in .308  but stamped receiver not milled.  A real military M77B1 is a light squad machine gun wi bipod.  Tried to market to western aligned countrys' militaries . No takers (Cypress? ).

They marketed an earlier semi auto in the US (through Century ???) in 2014-15.  Thumbhole stock and slantback receiver for I think around $700+.    Now it's back again via Zastava USA in a " better "  polymer stock and straight back receiver for double. Much more money but arguably reasonable @ $1,400 nowadays.

I heard you can modify M14 mags for these, will the modified mag still work in the M14 or no?

Probably not, Atlantic has some for $46

There are two different variations of the M77. The RPK style version and the export 308 style shown above. The furniture has been replaced but its essentially the same gun they have made since the 80's that mitchell used to import also as the M77. Mitchell also imported the LMG version.

No need to convert M14 mags any more. CSSpec made the mags for Zastava USA for a decent price. I'm more of a factory parts guy and have a few of the original 20 round mags coming in from Europe where they are about 40 bucks a pop NOS.

This is a preban 1980's vintage M77 in 7.62 NATO

So,   You have an old Mitchell M77 and a brand new one?

Its a new ZPAP M77 . Point being this isnt a new gun or new design. Just the latest iteration. I have owned an M77 Mitchell gun. Besides the firniture and the bayonet lug no difference although Zastava claims the barrel is chrome lined now.

Attachment Attached File

Got mine setup the way I like.  Originally put a Bonesteel folder on it but the scope requires some adjustable eye relief so I swapped it for the Zhukov.

I was not impressed with the original handguards; I recall someone telling me they were good but they are some thin and cheap feeling polymer.

How are these on brass?  Does it eject reloadable cases?
