Hi, there. My name is Jim and I've been into shooting for about 3 years. I started out as a handgun guy, but recently I've gotten more interested in rifles. I just added my first AR-15 to my collection and I'm on the verge of taking the plunge with my first AK. My current range of toys are on my website, here: home.comcast.net/~navy87guy/home/index.html I'm 42 (well, I will be tomorrow!), married for 19 years. We have 4 kids ranging in age from 16 to 3. My oldest son likes to shoot with me - and I can drag my wife to range from time to time (and she's not a bad shot). I've been in the Navy for almost 20 years and I just came back to the Pentagon after having command of a guided missile destroyer down in Norfolk. We've lived in Virginia for about 18 of the past 20 years - and I'm definitely grateful to be in a gun-friendly place like the Commonwealth! I'm relatively new to ARFCOM, but I appreciate all the insights and advice everyone is willing to offer. Thanks! Jim |
| Joe here from Colorado. Been a gun guy since I can remember. Mostly Ar's and precision rifle stuff. Lots of handgun too. AK's are just another interest I am finding I like. Love my Garands too. Career LEO , SWAT sniper type. Also a dept. armorer, insturctor so I'm fortunate enough to get a lot of range time. Married +3. This is a great site with great folks! Looking foreward to some good old fashion gun talk. |

Might as well jump! Bought my first AK Monday, a SAR-1. I know, not the best but I think I got a good deal for a starter rifle, I've at least confirmed it runs okay. Got the rifle, five 30 rd mags, one short mag, 170 rds of Wolf, and a decent case for $350 from a friend of a friend, that's a decent deal right? It's in little pieces in the basement, I have a problem that leads me to disassemble things to see all the parts and clean them, plus the furniture needs a re-do (another obsession). Plan to do some serious testing next week while at our camp pretending to be turkey hunting. See yall around (get both) |

It's time I introduced myself. Darren from SC. Shooting for years but a total AK newbie. Just got my first, a WASR-2, because the price was right. I have already gotten great advice and info, and I'm looking forward to building my own someday, if I can ever find a build party or other willing party! No $$$ or space for build tools now... I'm Lugoismad. I live in Ohio, and am a college student in an engineering degree. I've really gotten into guns since I turned 21, and my collection seems to grow by a gun or two every 3 months or so. Right now I own 2 AKs, a Winchester 12 gauge, a .22, a Mosin-Nagant, Bersa Thunder (my CCL weapon) and a Hi-Point Carbine with the ATI stock. I'm a member of the NRA, and have had my CCL since the day I turned 21. I am a strong believer in firearms rights, and have been around them my entire life. I'm thinking my next gun is going to be a nice 9mm full size pistol. Maybe a Ruger. |

Hi all, checking in. I'm 42, single, no kids, have a great dog and an okay girlfriend. I run CNC grinders for a living, making solid carbide, high precision endmills. Been a shooter since the age of five but have only gotten into AKs in the last four years. Currently have an SAR-1, SAR-2, Yugo M70AB2, AMD-65, Tantal, an AK pistol and a couple of Saiga 12 shotguns.  I'm 53 single with 2 grown boys. Came out to Wa. state in 76 from Wi. Pretty good collection of AR's Garand's and other fine hand-me-downs. Refinery work mostly or other pipe work. Recent neck fusion prevents me from shooting my rifles for now, 1 more month, I can't wait! This is a great site with a lot of really good people.Oh yeah and  I LIKE FRED I'd like to thank the Commander at the top of the page for his service, and all the others serving past and present.  |

I've just turned to the darkside and purchased my first AK, a Romak-1 that was rebuilt into correct configuration (with the correct number of US parts  ) Originally it had the thumb-hole stock. Now I'm thinking of an AMD-65 to go along with it. Sheesh, that didn't take long

Well i figured i might as well introduce myself since i've been posting a little bit.. My names Eric, i'm 21 (turning 22 in a week) I just moved to MN from Orlando.. and its nice being back here.. i've been into guns my whole life.. but never really thought about buying any.. well after moving back i've been hanging out with an old friend whos a gun nut.. and it basically influenced me to start buying.. | From OK - cop, 35, married (13 years - same woman) 2 kids (boy, 9, girl, 7). Guess I'm doing the mid-life crisis, b/c I keep buying new toys (Ar's, a 4-wheeler, a new Jeep Wrangler, etc). About to buy my first AK and thought I'd look everything up over here. Lots of info to sift through, but I think Ive been pointed in the right direction. |

Hello all, Dan here. 21 from Indiana. Got into firearms in college were I am currently the captain of the Purdue rifle team. First rifle was a Yugo SKS. Bought a semi compact CZ-75 shortly thereafter and it's my baby. Sold the SKS to feed my bolt action/30-06 fetish by getting a sporterized (but not bubbafied) P17. My girlfriend and I just ordered a GP WASR from AIM surplus and will get it later this week (a girlfriend with an AK and a garand, what a catch!) I just find a rifle that I can throw in the mud and still fire sexy. |
| Chad-Litchfield Park, Arizona. 27, avid gun nut, started my collection when I got done with hunter safety course, started shooting ATA matches, been to olympic tryouts twice, placed 7th in nationals & 1st for 2 consectutive years in the State competitions. Only ever built 1 gun & its now the talk of the ATF so I may be loosing it depending on how they rule. trying to buy a spare part kit for my SAR1 but the place I ordered it from is out of them hinking.gif I don't have any sympathy for flip-flop politicians or federal agencies. |

Hello, My name is Don and I live in Arkansas but I moved here from the Peoples Republic Of Los Angeles in 1976, my Wifes name is Michelle, And our Daughters name is Clorie, And my Grandkids are, Destiny age 12, Promise age 8 going on 32, Bailey age 6 my only Grandson, And Hannah age 4 my youngest Grandbaby. I moved to the Darkside back in 1984 when I saw a magazine article on Polytech AKS Rifles, in .762/39, and .223 and I went down to my Buddies gun shop and ordered from Kengs Firearms a Polytech AKS Type 56 full stock with spike bayonet in .762/39. I bought the Rifle that came with three thirty rd mags, two fourty rd mags, a 75 round drum and a case of 1460 rounds of ammo that they had advertised for ! ( 329.00 ) !!. The lady I was married to then Bitched becuse I bought it, And at that time I had the cash and was going to buy 3 more fullstocks and 3 folders and Bill Fleming, A class 2 Manufacture was going to convert all of them to select fire for 225.00 each plus my 200.00 ATF stamp so I would have had, 754.00 each in the weapons!!, Hindsite sucks!. Whats a regesterd Polytech Ak-47 go for now! About Min 15.000.00!. Anyways I have some photos of some of my AKs that I have now posted on the Family Pictures Thread, and I have three Yugoslavian M92s being built by Troy at Inrange has SBRs and a Virgin M72 RPK also coming from him. I just LOVE Kalashnikovs,But I do own a S&W MP 15 thats pretty nice ,Best Regards To All, PS, I do have one other kid named Maxwell, My Dobie Chefgun.

Taking the advice of a weapons expert I saw on an AK documentary who stated "If I were asked to go to another planet, I would want to bring the AK", I'm seriously considering a purchase. I also smell a ban coming after 08', so I say get while the getting is good! |

Hey fellow AR members, Big D here from South Louisiana, 51 years old, both my sons have flown the coop yeah. Since I found this site the 1st of this year; I now own two AR's one RRA which I bought and one with a bushy upper and Mega lower I built using this site. I also just aquired an AK. My old lady thinks I'm crazy but like that guy on the Midway USA a commerial "I love this stuff" ha ha. |

Matt of Wisconsin. I am 22 been into guns as long as I can remember, amassed a collection of various guns in only 4 years. I have a WASR-10 and recently got into building. I now have 2 Romanian G's and an AMD-65. I plan on increasing that count. The AK is truly Kalishikov's gift to the world. It is great for fun at the range, bragging to friends, making a room more manly. Seriously, I like the AK and I'm happy to be a member here. I don't think I could have tackled a build without the helpfulness and insight of others on this forum. |

| Max, VT, 20. Bought my first AK, a milled Bulgy the day i turned 18, just got into AR's but the day i finished i bought a Polish kit to get back into the dark side. I like my AKs and my VZ-58 best, but of coarse i pay homage to FALs, HK-91s, and other greats, trying to balance my guns with my motorcycles, it kinda sucks when your paying for college and all of your passions aren't cheap. |
| 34, carpenter,in Tulsa,happily devorced for 10 years,2 sons 14 and 10, poor speller, never met an ak i didn't like. i have owned 1 ar. didn't like it. traded it off.i build them for friends and have built many, but i refuse to own one. if you have one or twenty i dont hold it against you. i like AkS and i dont have enough of them. i have an SAR 1, an SAR 2 and a polish under folder. getting ready to build some myself. |

I'm 30 years old, no kids, no wife, and no evil spirits to speak of.... I own and run two businesses here in South Florida... That's why I'm still single  I'm a total Class AA gun nut... Yes I own an HK 21 F/A Belt Fed weapon system... I have an extensive AK, HK, AR-15, and Pre-ban foreign weapons collection... Most Florida board members here know who I am from various shoots I attend... I'm fairly knowledgible about all current firearm designs and functions... I'm glad to be part of a very powerful caring firearm community web-board... I've met ED SR and another site staff at the Shotshows in passed years...
