Has anyone shot this? I've got a 16" barrel and would shoot it through a Silencerco .30 Saker.

I tried changing buffers and springs to get it to function in a non suppressed 16" AR platform 7.62x39 with no consistency. With a .30 caliber suppressor mounted, it has enough back pressure to cycle about 80% - ejects 100%, but fails to pick up next round about once or twice from a 10 round mag. This was with a dirty gun and an H2 buffer and standard buffer spring, so I think I may be able to get it above 95% functioning with a little tuning - way better than I expected since they warned it will not cycle in semi-autos. I noticed from my 16" barrel it was going supersonic on an 84 degree day, when I initially tested the subsonic ammo back this winter, I only noticed an occasional round going supersonic from that same barrel.

Seems extremely inconsistent. Thank you for the info.

I shot some PPU subs today and although it wouldn't cycle my KS-47 (factory PA-10 carbine spring and H buffer), it all stayed subsonic and it was high 80s-low 90's and 72% humidity if that matters.  Its also brass-cased and boxer primed if you're into reloading.

Thank you.  I just read through it.

I haven’t had any luck getting it to cycle in a suppressed Draco pistol.  Doesn’t even eject the spent casing.  Kind of disappointed since the early reports seemed to show that it would.  Oh well.  If it didn’t before, it definitely won’t now that I installed a KNS gas piston and tuned it a bit.

The wizardry of a cycling 7.62x39mm subsonic has not been mastered yet. I like the PPU load a lot but that is out of a bolt action. It'll never cycle any semiauto.

Don't take this the wrong way, but how hard is it to replicate the original Soviet Type US subsonic load that has been in use since the 1960s? They seem to have managed to make it work.

The Rhodesians made their own subsonic 7.62x39mm using .303" Mk VII ball and a reduced charge. I understand those rounds were satisfactory as well.

I shot 40 rounds of brown bear subsonic 7.62x39 with my WBP Fox classic today and it cycled 100%.  Probably at least 10 of them went supersonic though.

I've used 1000 rounds in a 8.5 ks47. Runs 100% suppressed, runs 50% unsuppressed. In my wasr it runs 99% unsuppressed. In the 16" barrel I've had only a few rounds go super. This is the best bet for functioning subs out there.

Runs 100% when suppressed, even through a short barrel. I love it.

It’s not going to cycle in semi auto

Didn’t cycle in my 12.5” SLR107 CR SBR with the Wolverine and closed KNS piston.
