Has anyone used one of these Atlantic Fixed Stock Barreled Kits for a build?
If so thoughts on how good they are & any suggestions? Thx Hungarian fixed stock Romanian fixed stock |

Atlantic has a pretty good reputation.
They were OOS when I looked a few months ago; ordered complete rifles (AK-47 & 74) inste. |
|
Hell, they've done all the hard work of building for you. I'd call that more of a field stripped rifle, you just supply trigger group and furniture.

AAAhhh I want a few of these kits but have to wait till after the holidays... Keep them coming Atlantic I want them so bad....

The BIG question is whose barrel, & receiver. GARY View Quote From the Atlantic site: "This Kit starts off with Original Military Surplus Romanian Model 1963 kits coupled with a 4150 V Nitride Treated threaded Barrel. Atlantic Arms properly installs the barrel and Morrissery receiver and each kit is head spaced & checked from proper alignment"<p style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;"> I would not want one of the High-Standard kits regardless of price (based on past experience). |

Someone over on Reddit had one walk the rivets out of the rear trunnion.
To their credit Atlantic took his return and said they would rebuild the kit on a Childers receiver for him. |

The Hungarian one linked above says it is from High Standard. The Romanian sounds like it is made by Atlantic.

The Romanian barrled receiver build had caught my attention as well, but I have not bought one yet. Who makes the barrel is a mystery, other than 4150 V steel and nitride; the item description states the receiver is a Morrissery. We do expect Polish WBP kits with Radom Hammer Forged Chrome lined barrels in EARLY 2018 !!

The SBR Ready kits will be a barreled kit not a kit with a receiver , Below is an example of one of the Romanian AK kit that are head spaced barreled with a full 16 inch barrel.

What about pistol receiver kits but with the russian folding trunnion? View Quote |

@ATLANTIC-FIREARMS Any plans on doing the same type of thing for ak-74s?
|
|

Yeah, Henry1, from your pic in the other thread, I wouldn't want that either. Those don't look like any rivet heads I have ever seen - they look bad. The rear-most trunnion rivet has a gap above it. They said they'd fix that with a rubber mallet if you sent it back? Dang.

the romanian one from them is tempting if it comes back in stock. I have a spare set of magpul furntire lying around and I could easily grab an ALG ACT trigger to finish it off. would be fun

Ok, what did I miss about the High Standard build? Link? View Quote I have no idea how they handled said rifles or if it affected the overall durabilty beyond cosmetic. It was more a jab at the knee jerk reaction. Would like to see some pics of your rifle though. Mostly just for some more AK porn. |

Ok, what did I miss about the High Standard build? Link? View Quote I was directed to High Standard/Interarms customer service by the online seller, but didn't get very good service, in my opinion. In all fairness, the AK I bought was an Interarms and not a High Standard. But if High Standard owns Interarms, it's 6 one half-a-dozen the other in my book. But if they can fix a bad rivet with a rubber hammer, they might be more skilled than I'm thinking. Oh yea, that AK had the same greenish parkerized finish you mention. You can see for yourself in the pictures I posted of what I got for $679 plus shipping and FFL fees. If High Standard has made improvements, then good for them. But, again, I don't want to buy another High Standard/Interarms firearm. I'm not trying to give anyone a bad review for no reason; I had a reason. Once bitten, twice shy... ETA: Here are the pics if you don't want to click on the link and read the rest of the story (as Paul Harvey used to say:-) |

It is what it is, I don't have a dog in the fight but I just hadn't heard anything at all about High Standard so was curious if there were issues.
Funny though, because I am a 5.45 guy, I suppose I will not even shoot this enough to know if it's a crap build or not (minus the testing I will do on the AK Master Mount). I doubt it will see enough rounds to put any real stress on it, which ironically puts me in the same group as Century apologists |

Quoted: The majority of those wouldn't be acceptable to me if I were building it, but that's purely from a cosmetic standpoint. They'll hold just fine given the front trunnion rivets were properly set. View Quote I have a few atlantic builds from UZIs to AKs and all have been rally nice. I am excited to get a few of these kits... Atlantic any chance you guys will do a battle field pick up run? I love the beat up look... makes me want to stand on the mountains edge and yell WOLVERINS!! |

Any chance of seeing Romanian 223 barreled kits?
I'd love a few of those to attach canis bastard kits to and replace my AR's. |
|
Life is good. You can buy a new Romanian 2018 WASR-10 with slant brake, bayonet lug, perfect rivets, straight sights and free shipping for $550, from Centerfiresystems.com, which is equal in quality to my 2018 SLR-107. How does a 1963 Romanian fixed stock barreled kit for $90 less make sense? You still need furniture, trigger and safety.

Looks fine to me Zen. I mean they are cosmetically meh which is what I think another member was getting at but they will hold up.
Least it wasn't shitjacket quality |
