I previously had a pretty cool Romanian AK74-type rifle I stupidly sold it.
I want to go all in on a Krinkov SBR Who has the most legit build currently? Thanks |

You are picking a bad time to get into that. Just about everything is dried up. Just look at gun broker.

SLR-104UR View Quote If you replace the 4 with a 6, it'll be the 5.56x45mm NATO version (which looks identical except for the mags). Oh yeah, and that's an AKS-74U that you're wanting. S = folding stock. (The "U" suffix = "Ukorochennyj" in Russian. "Shortened" in English.) Krinkov is an improper designator made up by poorly-informed Americans. |

A bit pricey!
Are the Arsenal AKs worth it. I could not find a “pistol” version of the above. Sounds like Form 4’s are slow right now but Form 1’s fast. Is there a rear trunnion issue with installing the side folder? |

This, unless you don't want the optics rail (which would be most early-mid 1980s issued guns, which also had the earlier handguards with distinguished vent slots as pictured above). In that case look for an SLR-104U. If you replace the 4 with a 6, it'll be the 5.56x45mm NATO version (which looks identical except for the mags). Oh yeah, and that's an AKS-74U that you're wanting. Seems like they have those 104s set up perfect to SBR.
Looking at SLR104-53 looks like you just need to cut the barrel in front of the 24mm threads and screw on the Krink brake. Of course I can’t find one of these in stock either. Also guessing the optics rail is useless with the side folder? |

I remember when AKs were cheap and ARs expensive. Lol View Quote |

If you find a 104ur and form 1 it also know that you need to have the front sight pressed off and have the gas restrictor removed so that it cycles with the short barrel. Some say you dont but I had to have it done on mine.

Some 104's had restrictors, some didn't. I got lucky. Mine was an earlier serial number model that didn't have one. This thread may help.

I’m sure if I ever find one it will have an undrillable Tungsten carbide restriction donut I’ll have to deal with. Lol

Tried a few builders with little luck since there are no kits at reasonable prices.
So arsenal has some options with the “gambit” faux suppressor barrel extension thing. Anyone removed one? After Form 1 approval of course. How hard to remove? We’re the threads ok? |

I don't know if they offer it with wood, but I can tell you I like it with wood. Mine with factory furniture and then with wood. https://i.imgur.com/WCXgW7O.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MlEuf0y.jpg View Quote |

Slr 104 and chop barrel when stamp comes. For an optic I got a tiny rail the sits in the rear sight mount perfect for a primary arms rds.

Slr 104 and chop barrel when stamp comes. For an optic I got a tiny rail the sits in the rear sight mount perfect for a primary arms rds. I talked to some builders and custom shops. Kits are expensive blah, blah, blah. I know an AK is not as modular as an AR. Is there some secret communist tech to make a 8” barreled AK? Why can’t I buy all the parts to assemble a new Krink type AK? With all the production tech we have I need to find a kit from Bulgaria? |
|
Much of this stuff has near zero chance of any stateside military/ police orders and making AKs requires real skill and specialized tools. ARs are lego kits by comparison, with tons of sales potential. There are a couple of high end builders and that's it. Just like HK stuff. Home builders are going to get the short stick.

Is OP specifically looking for 5.45? That caliber is in a bit of a bubble currently.
If you can handle 7.62, you can get yourself in a sam7k, stamp it, and slap a stock on for not too much. Or in 5.56, I recently got a 106ur pistol that was all set up for SBR for $1200. Just add the price of a tax stamp and a stock from kvar and I'm set. Also in 7.62 land, the linx folder kits are $700. Add a receiver and you get all your parts for $800. Then its whatever you can build it or have it built for, and a tax stamp. |

Arsenal 106U 5.56x45
Arsenal 107UR for 7.62x39 I wish I had 104U or some kind of 5.45x39 krink. I do have a 105 type build in 5.45, but it's not the same lol. Awesome little rifles! Attached File Attached File |
