Question for the SBR crowd: what do you all use to transport your SBRs around? I've got a 10.5 inch upper, and if my math is right when my stamp comes in, my rifle should be 27 inches long total.
Covert options? Hardcase? Look forward to seeing what you all guys use. |

Not mine, but Navy_Chief picture http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2706/4091669084_1d3a281a3c_o.jpg That's exactly what I use. IIRC, it was like $12 at Walmart. |

The tennis racket case is definitely a good covert option. Does it hold the form of the racket without one in the case? (I.E. no sharp points where a handle or barrel end rests)

(I.E. no sharp points where a handle or barrel end rests) It's semi ridgid so it holds it's form pretty well. I'm not too concerned about that though, I bought it mainly because it was cheap rather than covert. The eagle discrete case pictured above is another great, but more expensive, option that protects the rifle a lot more than the tennis racket case. I have one and I use if for my work carbine. |

I think this SBR case is pretty neat too....

I like the Noveske, but you have to have a very short barrel IIRC (<10"

That's the same case I'm using two posts up, but it looks like it's just marketed under another brand. The foam I cut out for my SBR is egg crate foam on the other side, so I just fipped it and cut it out. I live in a Commie state, too (MA), but at least we can still have MG's, SBR's, AOW's and SBS's (as long as they came from the original manufacturer that way). Can't have the P-Mags you have, though. |

That's pretty slick. What case is that? |

I just did this over the weekend. I bought a tennis racquet bag from Dick's on sale for $30. It is supposed to hold six racquets. I used hot glue to attach a $5 iso mat to the inside of one side to reinforce the case where the rifle will be. I can fit six mags, 200 rounds, eyes, ears, targets and have some room to spare. I used a 14.5" middy for the pics and I had to take it apart. Before I added the padding I could fit it whole. I can get a 20" upper and lower in there too. I mainly did this for a 10.5" barreled SBR that I am waiting on the stamp for. This will make a nice case for when I just want to take one rifle out for the day. I got the idea from threads like this. I almost bought a LaRue covert case, but when I went and checked out this bag it seemed pretty well made. I am sure the LaRue one would last longer but I kind of wanted to do this little project for the fun of it. When I wear this one out I will probably buy a nice discreet case. That looks sharp. The idea for the mat is tops too. That would address the issue of the rifle printing on specific points in the bag. Thanks for the share. |
|
I did not even think of that, thanks for pointing that out. The case has a little padding but I have no doubt the rifle would have printed when the case was loaded up with everything else.

The 32" Eagle Case is on sale for $49.99 at Natchez.
Just got one. Super well built, interior mag pouches, full sized zippered outer pouch. AT $100+ it's expensive, at $49 it's a steal. http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=EYDCCAR15LE&src=tpSlrHm |

Quoted: My local shop sold the Mossberg kit and the bag got left behind. When I saw it I thought it might just fit my 556 SBR so I asked how much they wanted for it. They sold it to me for $10.Quoted: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3131/5759515648_ce3395f356_b.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5108/5758972883_c878df2821_b.jpg WANT! Where'd you snag that from, and can it be had without the writing on it? I looked online real quick but it only seems as if they're sold with the Mossberg JIC 2 shotgun setup? Were you able to purchase one separately or did you buy the whole kit and just re-purpose the case? The lettering is embroidered. I guess it could be removed. I am thinking of just covering it with a camelbak patch to help with the urban camo. Maybe a fake tube as well. |

I have an old Violin case to fix up and will be using to carry my AR15 7 1/2" SBR in.
It is still a work in progress. http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp78/wolfdog45/100_1026-1.jpg http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp78/wolfdog45/100_1028-1.jpg |

11.5" with M4 stock and A2 muzzle device will be about 29" collapsed. If using a suppressor mount it might be longer or shorter. My 10.5" with a YHM 30cal QD and Modstock comes in at 28" collapsed.

I picked up this Bulldog case for $30 today from Knob Creek gun range. It's not the greatest but I was super excited when I got home to realize both my SBR's will fit in there! It's a little snug but a hell of a bargain for $30.
Looks like it's only $25 online HERE. It's looks like it was made for a standard model to be broken down but it works great for my 7.5" and my 10.5". I think a 11.5" might be over the limit though. FWIW, the packaging said it floats! LOL |
