I'm thinking of rounding out my colleciton with something full auto.

Not ready to spend the 10-20 K for an AR, or AK, or HK.

Recommend to me something below 10 grand.

Mac's seem to be the entry level FA weapon.  But their rate of fire is so high I'm not sure I want one.  Burning through 30 rounds in a couple of blasts is too quick.

What about a Smith and Wesson 76?

Not a big fan of the Sten or Sterling.

I'd love a Micro Uzi, but the rate on those is super fast as well.  I had a full size Uzi in SA a while ago, and was not a fan of how it felt.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Consider the MAC with a slow fire Lage upper.

mac 10 with lage slowfire kit will get rate of fire down to about 600-650 for about $800 more than stock mac 10
plus you still have regular upper just in case. It's about the cheapest entry level gun.If you can find a 11/9 they also make a slowfire upper that
uses soami coffin or drum mags

I'd say a MAC11 with a lage upper, or a mini uzi. Both under $10k, and both have a slower rate of fire.

Perhaps a full size Uzi with one of the thicker buffer cubes (which seems to me to smooth things out by raising ROF past the choppy 600?

The mini runs almost as fast as a stock M11...I recently got one of Barrelxchange's heavy bolts to slow the thing DOWN a bit (to 800ish). IIRC, stock rate is 1100 or so.

If you want a subgun a M 11/9 with some Lage accessories would be the way to go. You could have a nice setup for under 6K and that would leave plenty of cash for a suppressor and lots of ammo.

However if you want more versatility a lightning link should fit within your budget and coupled with a KNS link protector it's a very versatile MG.

Another vote for a Laged-out M11/9. The ROF is much lower with the Lage uppers and bolts, and you can fiddle around with the ROF using a Mac Jack. Very versatile gun and huge aftermarket support, tons of options for stocks, front grips, sights, optics, etc. The Max 31 upper also allows you to do the 71 round drum.

Or, throw the stock upper on and do the bullet hose thing. Lotsa fun either way.

As mentioned, reconsider the MAC with an aftermarket upper (Lage, Alliance Armament, etc).  The Uzi is always a good choice as well.  Classic but not the configurable Barbie doll that the MAC is.  The Uzi does feel clunky when you first hold it, but that changes with experience for some reason.

Don't worry too much about rate of fire as you should be developing trigger control.  Even on an M11A1 with an 1800 round per minute rate, I can do triples.  I would guess on a stock M11/9 doubles are easy and singles can be done.  Everybody does mag dumps on Youtube.

$50 a month is low ball. On average I shoot 350 rounds a week with my sten (I ususally buy bulk 250 yellow box and a 100 round box of winchester).

Thats why I cant wait for my m11 to get here so I can have some cheap .22lr fun.

He's talking about the cost of the gun going up $50 a month I think.  $600 a year for an Uzi seems about right.

I have seen some real sweet deals on Vectors this past month or so. If I
would have had the jack one of them would be one the way to my safe.
All of them have been sub 8K.

Yet another vote for either Vector UZI

Under $10K, and if you go for the Mini; GET Troy's (Barrel Xchange) Heavy Mini bolt!

FWIW, I owned an M11/9mm, a Reising, etc. ... then I bought a Vector Uzi, and everything else just sat in the safe (except for my M16's). After a few years of them gathering dust, I sold off the rest –– an Uzi and an M16 are all I ever shot, and all I need.

After studying the issue for a few years, I really think that an UZI and an M16 are the best two NFA guns to own.

I think that's the best money you can spend.

I just wish I would have come around to that decision sooner. Like 1986.

True, but .22 can be more trouble than its worth in a closed bolt MG conversion. If you could find a couple extra grand for both a LL and a M11/9 would give you one of the most versatile transferable combos available.

I hate it how I just bought a full size Vector Uzi, and you are already making me want to add a mini to it.  They are around $8k or so too, so that might be the next MG I buy after the HK sear.  5 MGs in one year?  Yea I have a disease lol.

What's wrong with a Sterling?  Have you ever shot one?  I think they are positively amazing.  It's not like a Sten, at all...completely different.  Plus, you can dress up like a storm trooper when you shoot it.

I have a Mac and I love it.    It's lots of fun.  I have a bunch of stuff for it.

I have shot lots of other peoples UZIs, MP5s, etc at club shoots.

Sometimes I wish I had bought a full size UZI instead. With all I have invested in the Mac (magazines, uppers, stock, replacement parts, etc) I'm nearly to to the price of a UZI.

I'd have a MP5 if I had the coin.

Uzi for first subgun will do you well. Or get a registered Lightning Link. RR M16s, HKs and others are pretty much out of reach. My advice for those queasy about spending a lot of money: try a SlideFire stock on an AK74 semiauto or the Springless AA for the Ruger 10/22 and see if you really think it's worth the extra cash for a Machine gun. I have tried the SlideFire and it works well, is Title 1 and almost as much fun without the Title 2 NFA hassles and baggage.
For me, I am glad I have my MGs. I got iin just before the Big Jump in prices in the early part of this century. It's just dumb luck, but hey, it happens. I would also give them away to get 10 years added to my life. But it is what it is!
Here is some MG porn for you to contemplate what you are getting into in your future, instead of nice cars, the many bowls of Ramen you will eat, and the depravation your family will endure in order to satisfy your hobby urges:

I agree with Tony, the Uzi and 16 are king.  But I will also never give up my M60.

I also never take any other MG out any more.  I do like the occasional blasting of a SBS or suppressed pistol, esp with the cost of feeding the pig and lots of 5.56.

I will say a FS Uzi and M16 are king too.

I have a Mac 10/9 with Lage Upper and convered to take Uzi mags, and 4 other Mac 10/45s, a Lightening Link, a FS Uzi, a Sten, a Reising M50, a Stemple 76/45, and a M76a1 along with my Colt M16.

I sold 3 other Mac 11/9s.

I Love my Colt (but that is out of range), So I would say my Uzi will Never leave me. The Sten is a nice gun and so is my M50 they have history. Then the Mac 10/9 and the rest follow. I might trade some off for a MP5.

So look for a good deal and buy it. and if you like it great. If not re sell it for what ever you paid for it. No harm done.

If you dont want to spend a ton on an M16 a good option is to spend 8 or 9 on a Ruger AC556.  I have one and an M16 and love the Ruger just as much.  Good firing guns.  Ruger does not work on them anymore but if you can find a parts kit for them you would have some spare parts.

I vote for the Ruger if you want an Assault Rifle in 223

I may go the ful size Uzi route.  I had a full size about 20 years ago, and traded it in for a mini, which I really like.

After reading about the mini, FA for it seemsto have issues relatatedu to the bolt feet, since the mini was imported after 1986, so a work around had to be done for them.  The ones you see for sale I've read are actually cut down full size Uzis.

What's a price range for a FA Uzi?
